Just my 2 pennith worth but, I thought i was being clever and when my 2 yr warranty ended I looked at the Warranty Direct policy, Initially thought this is over £150 cheaper ! But today I had to use it and it was shite !! imho.
First off the BMW dealer had never heard of WD, so when they rang them WD said they had to have a computer link to them so that they could apply for authorisation to go ahead with the job. The dealers didnt have the link and i believe there was talk of them having to subscribe to WD (no chance)
So WD said to send them the work assessment of the job so they could authorise the job and couldnt say when they could or would authorise the work as it required processing. Then the dealers eventually when they receive the authorisation can get on with the job.
However as a customer i then have to pay the full price for the work to the dealers and of course it's never cheap is it !! then submit a claim form in order to claim the outlay back.
Is it like this with the extended BMW policy ? is it feck !! was told if i had the cover the job would have been done within the hour and I wouldnt have had to part with a penny !!
So the WD's policy been chopped in and its back to BMW, anything for an easy life !!

I was under the impression that it was no longer allowed for manufacturers to dictate where you get your vehicle serviced? (EU ruling of some sort?)
I thought?
Once for the "warranty"
Once for the every 6000 mile "service"
Once for the annual "service"
At £1000 per annum, it's not quite a bargin!
Me: change the oil & filter as required. (Around £30.00) Take a chance on the rest. In 4 years, I have only had to change a fuel pump controller.
Net saving over "warranty" costs: £3800.

So...you don't HAVE to have your bike serviced by a main dealer in the first 2 years (as per the rulings), but if you take out the extended warranty, it's a requirement to get the dealer to service it from then on?
