BMW G450X Sport Enduro Launch @ Charles Hurst

Hey Marky How Ya Doin Kiddo????? :aidan:aidan:aidan

Did ya ever get that Hair under Control Yet (Never Mind the hair what about the 125 Wheelies:aidan:aidan:aidan)

Hey Guys and Gals I wouldn't get too upset Motorrad doesn't support "many" (if any)events (at least only one in my time of penal servitude!)

I'm unable to say if it's Herr Flicks' personnal preference or a directive from the bean counters! Your Call!

Whilst I may have issues with certain people in Hurts but the other guys in there still have a days work to get thru with like the rest of us, with ridculous targets and times to achieve, So don't be too hard on them. ..... For example Who ever heard of a motorcycle workshop having to be as busy in the winter as it is in the summer EVEN with snow on the ground?? Beancounters don't ya just love them!

So Whilst I'd love to go and Have a test run but somehow I don't think I'd meet Herr :ronno Flicks' rules and regs?

So I'll do my usual and pop over and see Shaun in Rainbow!!! Now thats how a dealership should be Run! Power to the Punters LOL

Sheesh I must be Gettin Soft Or the Counselling is Working (twitch twitch)

When I started reading this thread, I'll confess I was on the Anti Hurst bandwagon too from previous bitter tastes up there, but respect to Mark, he's stated his case more than honestly - I know the guy as he sold me my GS a few years back - mind you I haven't been through the door in along time since.

It's still interesting is it not that whether he posted on his own behalf or his employers', that they still watch this site and deem it worthy of attention?

From the sentiment coming outta this thread at least, I imagine they know they've lost a lot of faith with their buying public (for whatever reasons.:nenau)

Suffice to say that's why I like so many others now use independent BMW mechanics, and when I decide to change I'll go to a dealer that treats me with some respect.

I guess this is another reason why Motorad Central (East and West) have numerous ex-customers of Hurts coming over from N.I. to do business with them in Scotland. When you get people willing to take their business 'abroad' and be prepaired to pay for a return ferry journey just to avoid their local dealer, well it shows a lack of understanding/care/interest in their customer base. And from what I've read in several threads here is that a lot of ill feeling falls at the managers feet. If I was the managers boss, I'd be asking questions about poor repeat customers. Or maybe he's making his targets and couldn't care less and the hierarchy who don't know just how poorly thought off Hurts are in the local BMW community. :nenau

Just back from the launch event. The new 450 is a cracking piece of kit for those intent on doing an enduro or two. Had a nice chat with Mark, he's a good bloke. Mind you, he's taking the 450 home today to 'run it in'......git. :P :D

Other than that, it's about time the coffee was free. :augie

I sold my GS privately last summer and went to Hursts to purchase a new 1200GS with no trade in. The best deal was free heated grips and the comment, "take it or leave it". Needless to say I left it, and this was after purchasing two previous BMW's. After what i have heard about the dealers in Scotland I will go there if i am looking one in the future.:rob

I really hope that you are just feckin kiddin Davy.:eek:

FFS. :blast

Oh contrare, I bet he's not, when I was going through the bike buying stage no free tea/coffee or anything else. In fact after the bike was bought and on subsequent visits it was as much as they could do to acknowledge my very existence. Now I could understand if they had been busy, but far from it, ha!

I have no problem with that at all Michael, I will certainly pass on any comments that are left here. I can't really be drawn into saying too much more on a public forum guy's but believe me when I say if I can do anything to help with customer relations I will. If anyone would like to discuss any issues/problems they have with us then i'll be only too happy to listen and try to resolve these but I can't do it on a forum.

seemed to work with the Visor shop when there was a dispute over a helmet purchase, in fact I think it was this forum that sorted the problem out( and sorted out a few Norn Iron dialect issues)

Why cant a local dealer join a BMW forum?? . wouldn't it be great if you could join in and give a dealers point of view, it would certainly bring you closer to your existing customers and maybe earn you (or bring back) a few more.

Sat on the 450x today Mark, the sidestand is flopping around a lot. Are they all like that? Tidy looking machine though, bloody massive silencer, that would be the first thing I would replace

They still feel very very light though, a lot more poke than the XC650, :bounce1ACCIDENTAL WHEELIE IN SECOND GOT MY ATTENTION.:o

Sorry to drag this all up again, but.......

every single time that I've asked Hursts to contribute something to one of our events, they have..... as you Aiden, know very well.

I wasn't asked to approach Hursts for Tipperary, and I don't know if anyone else went cap in hand, but given the crap that they receive on here on a regular basis it's a miricle that they've ever contributed anything.

We had a good look round the G450X in Munich

Quite a few HP2s etc stockpiled:eek:

Mark, Jochen and I really appreciate the efforts you have made to assist us in organising events. You jumped in at the last minute in Donegal this year to lead the off-road ride and made a bloody good job of it. You even got Hursts to donate a prize. :)

However, we made a resolution this year that we would not approach Hurst for a donation for any of our events.

The first year that we held the event in Achill Island (2006), Hursts, with a lot to do donated a pair of gloves. Last year for Achill they gave a set of filters.

Compare that with Joe Duffy's in Dublin and Keary's in Cork who have happily and very generously donated jackets worth several hundred Euro.

I don't agree that what they get here is crap. I was at Hursts last Saturday in the company of Jockser, his two eldest sons and another mate called Gary. Gary was looking to buy an 1150RT they had advertised for sale.

After being there for over 20 minutes no-one had approached us to even say hello. When Gary eventually found a member of staff to ask about the RT he was told rather abruptly that it was sold. They weren't even interested in seeing if any other model from the range would be of interest to him. A guy with a budget of £8000 ready to go on a bike was blown off and will most likely never return. Their loss.

I wouldn't ask them for a drink of water let alone a donation for a UKGSer event. They'd probably want to charge for the water anyway.

Now this is only my opinion:o

The lads up at Hurst's (Alan, Billy and wee Mark) have always
been as sound as a pound with me, never had one problem...
I only buy parts and the lads have always bent over backwards
to help me out (eg bike broke down needed part nextday to be back at work)
And even if I need a bit of advice from the mechanics it has always been
freely available.

Now as for buying a moto...
Never in me wildest dreams did i ever think Id be able to
afford a BMW.... infact it still surprises me i own one :)
But if me lotto numbers come up tonight, i'll be sure to tell
you all about me experences of buying a HP 2 :D

Although I have never bought any bikes from Hurst's I have always had good service from Alan and Billy. Any warranty work that was required was always carried out in a fairly efficient and helpful manner and to my satisfaction. ( Alan even got me a final drive replaced a month out of warranty :thumb) Mark almost always has time for a friendly chat and as we speak, well type, Jim is sorting out another little problem for me which occured in the not too distant past, and I have no doubt that I will end up being a happy bunny :bounce1. Anyhow, that's my experience

Oh the only other thing I can say is - If it's good enough for Civil to get his bike serviced there, It's good enough for me :D:hide
