BMW Helmets vs Schuberth

Finally managed to get it out in some heavy rain today, with the vents open no misting at all, with rain on the visor, there does not appear to be much difference between the system 4 and system 5, at low speed it clings on and will only clear at higher speeds, I don't use any water repellant on the visor. With the visor open a couple of notches a small amount of rain gets to the inside of the visor. So IMO there the only improvement seems to be in the no misting.

Cheers Mick,

Keep us up to speed if anything worsens

Have had the Sys4 for the last couple of years but the mest thing under my chin has destroyed the top seal & BM don't list it as a replacement part

Lid is now noisy & draughty so I'm buying a Sys 5 tomorrow 'cos I'm going on a long ride this weekend :D :D

Can't decide on the colour - black or dark grey ?

I'll let you know how I get on although I'm praying for no rain - in Ireland, in summer - you must be joking :D

I already have custom plugs (ultimate ear)......still hear the roar of turbulant air on the top of my lid.

I have custom ear plugs too, and they dont make the Schuberth concept 2 that I have into a quiet helmet. Much noisier than my full face Shoie. The sun visor is OK - but not really big enough and a slightly odd shape. But I do like the flip up bit for town use.

So if I had to go a long way I would use the Shoie, whilst round town its the Schuberth.

Well I bought the matt magnesium Sys5 & did over 1400 kms (about 900 mls) at the weekend :D :D

Really comfy lid & the anti-mist worked really well in the cold & the rain. Also the vents allow great air flow - which will be handy if we actually get a summer !!

Its still quite noisy though, which is disapointing but probably more to do with the 12GS than the lid.

Water clearance of the visor at low speed isn't great, especially in light, misty rain. Maybe I need to treat it with Rain Clear or something.

I took the visor off on Sunday morning to clear water marks from the inside - I had ridden with it up during light rain - & obviously didn't refit it properly as there is a constant gap at the bottom. Will have to try & rectify it this evening.

All in all I'm very happy with it but at €500 ( over 330 of your £'s) it would want to be pretty damn good !!
;)
