My bike doesn't connect to my phone/bmw connected app automatically and each time I go out on the bike I have to go to menu > settings> connections and select my phone (which has previously been paired and shows in the menu). Is this normal or should it reconnect to the phone automatically? If it's the former that's a real PITA, however I can't see this as my phone automatically connects to the car when I use it.

I've gone through the settings and can't find any options to allow/disable connections automatically :nenau

You MAY find its your phone though as it will stop scanning if no BT is found when you turn it on

Turn your bike on then go to your phone settings and hit scan as that will restart the phones scanning for BT device

But even then it should still connect automictically

I would delete the pairing on both the bike and the phone and start again as you may have missed the option that pops up and says 'auto connect'

Mine connects automatically, but it seems to take ages for the bike's Bluetooth to be activated. I normally turn the ignition on before I put my helmet on to give it a chance to sort itself out, then once it's connected I can start the music app on the phone.

It does sometimes seem to lose the ability to connect automatically to the helmet headset and I have to tell it to connect explicitly, which is a PITA because it can only be done when stationary. That's possibly more down to the headset being old and shit cheap 'n' cheerful, though.

It should connect automatically every time.

(Does on my R1250 GSA 2019)
Thanks

That was going to be my next step if it is supposed to connect automatically. I'd be surprised if it's the phone, like I said that connects to the car everytime, as well as headphones etc etc :thumb2

Thanks, I don't use a headset and it was after about an hour of riding I noticed it wasn't connected :blast

Yeah it sounds like the 'auto connect' bit may have been missed or its just decided to no longer do that.

I regularly have to wake up the app on my phone for it to work with the bike but my phone always connects to the bike. Senna headsets on the other hand regularly need to be re-paired with the bike.

Is it connecting (phone signal and battery level icon showing at bottom of TFT) but not recording?
You can tell if it`s going to record a ride by the square white speed limit showing on the screen - i`ve found that if that white box is not there the App won`t be recording even if the phone has connected (with the phone signal and battery level icon showing at bottom of TFT).

Is the option set to `always` on the App/phone: `allow connected to access...`?
I`ve found that the App needs to opened (but not necessarily on screen - in the background) on the phone for it to be reliable.

No it’s not connecting, no battery or phone signal indication and not showing the speed limit, unless I manually connect it of course. It’s set to always allow.

When I’m next on the bike I’m going to unpair and pair again to see if that solves it 👍🏻

Damn right it should. Mine does. First time every time.

mine take a while to connect and I have to have the app running on my phone. I normally know when it has connected when the Speed Limit shows on the dash. I then have to connect my headphones afterwards, otherwise they don't connect. This has been the case on a 2020 and 2023 bike and on two different iPhones

There is a procedure to follow to connect phone, headset and sat nav. If it's not followed, it acts up:

Thanks, I only have basic headphones with one connection, but i will try and follow that procedure as closely as I can to see what happens. Cheers

What I did notice is that it didn't record my journey. It looks as though this should be automated considering you can set the min distance and time for a journey to be recorded, but does this require the phone to be connected via the cradle, i.e. being used as a sat nav?

I commuted last Thursday on the bike and no journey recorded.. Did the same journey today its worked today 🤔

Finally gave a numerical display in the white (speed limit) box on the TFT, rather than just two dashes.

It was not used as a SatNav but connected via Bluetooth AND location settings to Always.

Phone was sited in my Handlebar bag
