Is there an update on the OP's post as the issues he's having with BM Insurance may influence many of us who are coming up for renewal.[/QUOTE
At the risk of boring wapping things have moved on with the claim....bike is a write off so now we wait and see. I will keep on until resolved to give other Tossers an overall real time review of the quality of cover. So far service hasn't been great BUT if we get to a realistic outcome it is probably worth living with.
However, there is one thing that is worth considering when taking out Motorrad Insurance.
Any crash damage HAS to be repaired by Motorrad to original condition. What his means is that you are getting OEM kit and work standards. Talking to the BMW engineer they have seen repair work from other sources where it would not pass inspection in BMW. For instance, on one bike they saw the repairer had simply cut into the wiring loom rather than going back to the source and replace back to OEM spec.
My experience is that repairers bid for work or a contract from insurers which clearly puts price pressure on them....possibly compromising the quality of the repair. At least with Motorrad Insurance you KNOW that you are getting a high standard of repair.
I guess the down side is that repairs are more expensive and therefore more likely to write a bike off and will lead to higher premiums.....you gets what you pay for....my experience is that the cheapest insurance is fine right upto the point you need it.
Not helped me here as the bike is not being repaired...bring on the total loss valutation
Final point on service....having spoken to them in Friday (eventually) I re emailed details (recepits, descriptions, photos) for the kit over the weekend with the promise they would come back to me imediately with a valuation. Still waiting but will give them the week to respond.
Cheers and apologies for the length of the note.
