BMW Nav II - Power Cable - Quicky

I have the following power cable with my Nav II Plus. Does anyone know if this will plug straight into the hidden power socket underneath the front of the petrol tank on a 12gs? If not, I'm I missing a cable?

Yes, you are missing a cable.

Your cable will plug into the socket underneat the seat OK but to use the outlet under the tank you need an (expensive) extra cable from BMW.

Expensive it is. £68 + VAT from a dealer.

Does anyone think its a bad idea to power the Sat Nav using the socket underneath the seat? I'm a little concerned about how wet its going to get. Anyone have any experience of this?

Any suggestions most welcome.

Hec, when I had my Nav 11, I used the lead which will connect to the power socket under the riders seat with no problems. You will have to remove the red piece on the end though. I would suggest that you regularly check it for corrosion and maybe spray WD 40 or similar in their regularly.

I did eventually purchase the extra BMW lead that goes to the power outlet near the headstock.

It doesn't really matter if you actually use the bike in the rain etc - if you use the under seat socket it probably won't get the connector wet, but the harness connector into the back of the socket eventually corrodes. The "expensive" connector that joins under the front of the tank eventually corrodes at the Sat Nav end - the lowest "live" metal prong goes green and falls apart.
