Yes I know there is a GPS sector, but my issue may be specific to the TE.

Went to France at weekend at rolling off the ferry sat Nav would not pick up satellites, went 10k's and only worked when I removed the nav from the mount.

On coming back to the UK I had same issue and just kept riding and after 17 miles it connected.

Never had a issue like this with a zumo 660 installed.?

Any ideas.?

Cheers

Reset it or reinstall the firmware. Should fix it.

I had similar in Morocco this year, I did a software update and it was ok. Plus make sure the nav and mount contacts are clean.

Sometimes my Nav V can take a mile or two to pick up satellites, but never 17 miles.

Is the device working like it should? No

Does it work out of the bike's cradle? Apparently yes.

Assuming the software etc is up to date, three possibilities exist:

(1) The device's rear contacts are for some reason not engaging with the cradle, somehow rendering the device's aerial ineffective

(2) The bike's cradle / pins are not engaging, rendering... As above

(3) Summat else

If it is happening regularly:

Return to dealership and borrow either another bike or another device. See what happens. Act accordingly thereafter.

will give it an update and call my friendly dealer. its not the pins.

It could be software. On my last ride it took an hour to find satellites. Thinking about it they were located after 1st stop for breakfast, and I did remove and refit. It is often tardy, when I got off the ferry in Rotterdam I was through passport control before it worked out where it was.
