Can anyone tell me if the Auxiliary socket on the new RT is a Hella socket or a Powerlec socket, or are they both the same thing?

I want an accessory plug and lead to connect up my pillion's gerbing heated gloves that will plug straight from the gloves into the bike...your help please good sirs....and madams! :)

RT LC sockets take Powerlet plugs. Don't know if Hella is the same thing. I had to replug my Keiss power lead to Powerlet plug so I could use the aux sockets. Just remember that the combined amps of the two sockets is only 10 amps.

Thanks BMPete,

Anyone else know if Powerlet and Hella are the same. The cable that I can get hold for the heated gloves in the morning is a Gerbing part and it is listed as BMW/Hella.

I'm taking the RT on a second test ride tomorrow, but this time with my pillion who suffers from Raynauds (white fingers) she really needs to wear heated gloves to keep her hands operational.

Cheers guys, the problem was solved by Paul the sales manager at Marshalls BMW in Grimsby who lent me the curly cable from his own BMW heated waistcoat. It worked a treat and my pillion enjoyed warm hands for our RT road test ride, we covered about 100 miles in biking luxury.

Great to hear you enjoyed the ride. Did you buy it?

Well I rode it last week on my own for 130 miles and I thought that is was a very good bike indeed, so the next phase was to try it today with my pillion to see if she liked it..she does.

The bike is just superb, and deceptively quick, due to the fact you are contained with a bubble of calmness all of the time whilst riding.

I have only one gripe, and it's an odd one......somehow the screen directed the air flow to the area around the back of my neck and as it was only a wet 8 degrees today it was a chilly blast!

Will I buy it? Don't know, my GS-LC is also a superb bike, we chatted about the two bikes on the way back from the test ride and I think that my partner summed it up best by saying the RT is the better tourer, but the GS is more fun!

Either way there is very little to choose between the two, although very different, both bikes are simply superb, but the chilly draft created at the back of my neck is a real issue that would need solving somehow, maybe a balaclava would improve things.

I'll keep you posted.
