BMW R65LS
Manufactured in October 1981 and first registered in August 1983
V5 shows it registered as a historic vehicle so no Road Tax or MOT
Mileage shows as 50,500 but no MOT history to back this up
I originally bought this with the intention of doing a sympathetic restore
Plans have changed as my son has just bougt a R100GS so I need the garage space to re-commission that for him
Bike has been previously re-painted , if I was keeping it I would have had this re-done
Previous owner fully serviced it : oil , oil filter , gearbox oil , swinging arm oil , final drive oil , valve clearances & air filter
A new rear tyre was fitted at the same time
It was a non runner when he got it and the fault was traced to the "bean can" ignition unit which was replaced with a brand new one
At the same time he fitted a brand new ignition amplifier and new plug caps
Bike runs really well , start easily and goes through the gears smoothly
Brakes are good (for an airhead) with a new front master cylinder having been fitted and braided brake lines
It has stainless steel push rod tubes and no oil leaks from the engine or gearbox
I have done a few jobs on it : replaced a ripped seat cover with a good used one , balanced the carburettors and sorted a wiring harness issue which was causing the bike to cut out
It comes with a set of loose unfitted crash bars and pannier rails which would benefit from a rub down and re-paint if you were going to use them
V5 is in my name and it has two keys which fit the ignition , seat , petrol cap and steering lock
I sourced a riders hand book and tool tray but there is no toolkit
Use it as is as an oily rag daily rider or the basis for a more comprehensive restore , everything works on it , it just needs some cosmetic TLC
£2250
Collection from County Durham or I can deliver on my bike trailer for the cost of the fuel
Pictures below , as always they tend to flatter the bike LOL
