BMW RECALLS R & K SERIES BIKES PRODUCED BETYWEEN 2003 - 2011

Heard there were a few bikes with this issue in the past. Wasn't aware of this recall, thanks for the heads up.

My bike is in the middle of a change of ownership, I only got it last week. If I contacted my local main dealer, would they check the system??

I think this is just BMW's way of making the WC owners not feel so hard done by about their half a dozen recalls so far :)

The cracking flange fault was highlighted on ADV Rider some time ago, now BMW are taking notice think I'll pop in and get it checked!

The 'Wheel flange of the rear suspension'.

WTF is that then?

Ok, I've looked at the piccies in the links.......what in real terms does it mean is going to be replaced or messed around with on a 2004 1150GSA?

Cracks

What about the 100's -1000's of owners who have paid out prior to the recall some even twice to have this replaced ?
It is not cheap job at a dealers.

I figured that, I've never been caught up in a "recall" before......... what I mean is............ they will be obliged to check for me??

Yes of course they are. I think you will find that most BMW dealers are very helpful and it is a safety related issue from which they could generate some business :thumby:

service

My bikes booked into Benham Wolverhampton for 16000 miles service on Monday. Spoken to them today and they will check to see if I have a fault or not.

Thanks for info.

Spoke to a main dealer this morning; recall campaign letters are due to be sent out from BMW HO late March/early April to owners of affected bikes.......

Like the term affected bikes. If its not cracked will they do nothing and say "this ones ok"? If it is they'll fix it. Or will they just change all of them to be on the safe side? These recall notices tend to come from sites like Visordown and MCN, never see anything on BMW's website mentioning it. Not checked mine yet, may have to get the torx socket out and have a gander.
