Been looking through past posts but can't seem to find a clear answer - Just bought a 2007 1200GS and would like to buy a BMW tank bag. I know they have made a few different ones - do they all fit all the bikes?

I also have on '07 GS.

I started off with the older style BMW tank bag which was designed to fit the bike. But found it ugly and too big. It attaches using a hook at the front and a zip to an adhesive pad at the back.

I replaced it with one designed for the '08 onwards bikes which is smaller but meets my needs perfectly. Although its not waterproof. I was glad to find it went straight on so I didn't have to remove the adhesive pad from the previous.

Going the other way doesn't work - the older bag won't fit the newer tank shape.

Then again maybe look at the Wunderlich one?

Thanks for you reply - so a newer bag goes on an older bike but not the other way around!

I wonder of a bag off an adventure fits a non-adventure?

Simple answer is yes. The adventure tank cover design didn't change when they brought out the redesigned tank cover for the GS. The design of the larger GSA tank doesn't impact the fitting of a tank bag.

The fitting kit may cause you issues if you buy the BMW one. Honestly I'd look at the Wunderlich or similar.

Must be quite a few on the 'bay now that folks are changing to the wethead :blast

Have a look at the Bags Connection bags - I have both the Daypack and City for a GSA and they are great.

Thanks for the replies - I think Ill go with a BMW bag for 2004-2007.
