BMW Tracker

I was offered the option of a BMW Tracker when purchasing my bike, for £299 + £110 yearly subscription. I said I'd go away and have a read up but can't find anything about it. Does anyone know more about it? I'm guessing it's just a rebranded offering?

It's BikeTrac. Usually £300 for the tracker, £100 subscription plus £100 to fit. Sounds like free fitting?

Thats pretty good if it covers the fitting as wileeeeey says. 3 years subscription is cheaper to buy (if your likely to keep the bike) so worth considering.

If you havent already, add Biketrac to your Facebook feed (if you use it) and you will see all the recoveries posted up.

I got it fitted and two years free subscription, two years servicing and full akra system for £1k on my rr so effectively services and tracker is free.

Strangely my insurer's didn't give a fuck about it, more that it had to been in an integral garage.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a good deal then. Bit paranoid as I'll be riding into London everyday so want to do what I can to keep the bike.

Tracker and a good 16mm or thicker chain with decent padlock should be a minimum in London really. Heard many good things about BikeTrac and their Facebook page documents a lot of R1200gs / GSA's that have been recovered.

They would only put good things on their Facebook. I assume the percentage recovery is pretty good, but that's the key information.

U can disable the speed bit if you want I was very embarrassed when I checked mine - fuck me I ride slow - joking aside it gives me great peace of mind - free in Europe to tells you if you battery is low - 3 nominated people get a text if you don't put the keys in and turn it on prior to moving it - they even called me in Norway when I moved my bike about 2m without the keys in the ignition - very very pleased with mine

The website reckons 92% in 2016. A lot higher than I would ever expect.

Haha. Try the channel tunnel, I forget to disable the tracker & the train started to move, instant call, email & text to my phone..
There is a neat little app that u can easily track & set it in service mode whilst travelling on a bike trailer etc..

Yep, I forgot that too .

Other thing is that if your in 'motion detect' rather than 'geofence' mode and fill up with fuel, then push your bike without ignition on to enjoy a drink/snack that sets it off too.

Just got off the phone with the dealership and they said it's based off the Datatool TrakKING That's priced at £179 so the £299 price doesn't seem so appealing. They said it's been customised for BMW but didn't know exactly what was different.

can anyone confirm the new bmw tracker is a biketrac, I would be interested to find out if bmw has a different wiring harness that would plug the tracker direct into the bike, as apposed to the biketrac harness.

I'd give your local dealer a call. It would be good if maybe someone else could confirm that it's the TrackKing as I was told yesterday.

I believe it is biketrac, when I asked the dealer about it they gave me a biketrac leaflet. They cost 299 + fitting and subscription.

Unless its a corporate deal (for example I think Ducati fit Biketrac), then I think you need to chat to the fitting dealer as has been suggested. Its possible one dealer fits Biketrac and another something else. There are already two differing answers on this thread.

A possible alternative to biketrac, I have 2 of the biketrac units fitted to my bikes so I'm a little committed, there are registered biketrac dealers who are able to do a deal on supply & fit.. not just limited to BMW dealers..
