BMW's R1150 GS - 20 years on ....

Seriously, it is something that I am aware of, and I have considered removing it. At the mo I'm just leaving it on, in the vain hope that it will be OK. I did see a post the other day where you can fix it by the roadside. I will keep a copy of that under the seat.Time will tell.

Best way
I kept mine for a couple of years (on a new to me GSA) until last year, whilst I assembled stuff to remove it and then did it
My other Silver 1150 GSA (you maybe saw that bike) is a factory non ABS and the brakes are excellent
My Servo removed GSA doesn’t quite have the same (front brake) braking power/feel, as there are some technical differences between the lines/unions on both types

Enjoyed that little vid fanx. Iv'e still got my 1150GS but havent ridden it for maye 4 years or so
as bought a 1200LC to keep up with the boys. The 1150 ( The Mule) has 155K on it with working ABS etc. Infact nowt wrong with it really and I do start it up and get it up to temp now and again. The 1200LC has 65K on it now and It has been reliable TBF But yes I miss the Mule,
Trouble is am greedy and have 4 bikes insured just now and the tax is what 115 squid each... ouch! Insurance through the roof as it is for everyone. Sayin that I need the Mule back on the road and its a blue n white one as in the vid.
Guess i need a kick up the arse and do it!. Even the Mrs prefered the 1150 to the cramped 1200.
Decisions Decisions eh!

I do like the GS in Alpine white.

Do you know if the tank internals were checked?

I'm currently re-commissioning a 2003 Edition 80 Rockster which has been standing for a fair while (it's only got 10,000 on the clock), and while it appears the 10,000 mile service was done in 2015, (all the oils are still transparent!), it's very obvious that the fuel-filter wasn't changed: I just removed the original fuel filter, and the state of the hoses inside the tank was shocking:

Admittedly this was after I'd resorted to pliers to get the hose off the fitting, but the outer rubber just crumbled away.

The u-pipe in my 2003 GS tank was just as bad when I changed it earlier this year. I don't know what was more shocking - the state it was in or the cost of the replacement...
