2014 GS1200 in White, heated grips and no other options. Almost as basic as you can get. I ride 52 weeks year, so far 23000 miles and have no regrets about the spec.
Riding modes, Rain mode makes so little difference its only there as a sales aid.
If you are ESA averse, and are worried that a basic spec bike will be hard to off load in the future then one option which could work (at a price) is to buy the TE and then remove the OE suspension units and replace with manual ones of your choice (Wilbers, Ohlins, Nitron etc.). You can then disable the electronics with the Touratech DDC plug which stops error messages and allows all the other systems to still function - you'll need a plug for the front and the back at £170 each.
When you come to change the bike, you can then return to standard TE spec and either transfer or sell the lovely aftermarket stuff you purchased originally thus reducing your overall losses.
Not a cheap solution and you'd have to be pretty ESA averse to want to go down this route!

Has anyone ridden a GS with and also wothout ESA? If so what differences in ride quality did you find.
Cheers
Ade
The heated grips on mine are nearly useless - I'm p*ssed off as I paid £240 for them and AJ's aren't interested in swapping them for 2015 grips
The rain mode on mine makes it flat as a fart compared to normal mode, never mind dynamic mode. It's useful when in really poor weather conditions, but I rarely change out of dynamic (fun) mode as the TCS is less obtrusive when the front wheel leaves the ground
still moaning about those grips Sven, u never miss an opportunity!
That's because I live up to the Yorkshire stereotype and hate wasting money![]()

Finally bit the bullet and ordered one today. Standard bike, heated grips and engine bars. Now the wait.![]()
Time to consider swapping mine, 24000+ miles, two years old and corrosion really starting to take show now.
Dealers groan when tell them I have a GS1200, few really want your bike because there are so many very low mileage bikes available. Bottom offer for a basic GS £5500, top offer £7400 against a new bike.
One dealer withdrew an offer when he discovered my bike was not a TE.
