All joking aside, I still prefer the ergos of the regular GS, but when the time comes to change, the GSA is a surprising consideration.

I rode a WC GSA today and found the reach to the floor OK as well. However, it's too top heavy for me and nowhere near as 'keen' as my WC. It's horses for courses and this horse isn't for me, I'm sticking with the standard variant.
I know what you mean , I had a GSA in 2008 lasted 2 months ,went back to an 1200RT ....

Going touring France with a few mates, all but one on std GSs with panniers, the odd one out is getting a new GSA in April.
We just know he will be stuck in a 5 mile traffic jam approaching the QE2 Thames bridge while we filter through, just like he was on his last GSA.
Wide as it was though I have never seen a bike more suited to its rider, Roll on May 2nd Steve. Kaysersberg here we come.

I really like the 250-300 mile tank range on my (soon to be ex) RT as it generally means I only have to fill up once a day on tour and don't have to worry about finding a filling station in north west Scotland on a Sunday. I know it only takes 5 minutes to fill up, but I find it tedious.

Find it tedious, filling up. It's the price you pay for feeling alive, riding a petrol engined awesome steed. Grow to love your fuel stops. Embrace them as an opportunity to stretch your legs, prescribe windmill actions with your arms, engage in biker banter with your chums and rant at the YOP scheme yoof wot asks you to remove yer helmet, mate... Question him on what would happen if you were wearing a burkha and best of all.... Ride off in high dudgeon, screaming to anyone in the wilds who might be listening that your fundamental rights had been abused.
I thought that bods only worried about petrol stations in France? Scotland sounds like a wild place, bereft of civilisation. Do people live there? Are they really ready for self determination?
A couple of bods in this thread preferred their RT. Maybe they liked the tank but hated everything else? Who can tell.
