Any of you fellas got a spare caliper and disc for a R80 g/s,got twin discs on mine (twin brembos ).not a very good job washers and packers all over the place ,I would like to get it roadworthy .cheers Big Jets

I have a pair of discs that will fit yer bike, they are a little thin but I had them on a bike and they worked for me- they will be free but you can repay postage if you will as they are a bit heavy
I think I have bolts toooo

No calipers though sorry

Mick ,I thank you for your generosity ,the problem is on the discs that are on my bike they rub the fork with normal spacing used ,the fella who built the bike has shimmed and botched the whole thing and although I can get the setup to work ,its not right and doesnt inspire me with confidence,do you need to shim out the discs on yours if not I would be delighted to except your offer,the calipers are also shimmed out to meet the discs .Ill PM you.Cheers Mick

Ill go out with my camera and get some photees ,what Im saying is every thing is very tight ,the rivets on the discs are rubbing the forks.I think Mike may have isolated the problem ,the hub has three webs in the centre,he reckons it should only have 2,is it possibly a ST wheel

Has someone done a double disc conversion on there g/s and could take a picture/ pictures of the hub and discs to help John with this
The ST wheel hub is slightly thicker than the g/s ( recon 5mm ). As I remember the hub on g/s has 2 ribs in the center the ST has 3
If anyone has an ST wheel a picture of that would help for sure

Cheers Mike ,I was out looking at it last night,When I took the wheel off it was really difficult to get the wheel out the forks had to loosen the fork brace and lever slightly to get the discs away from the side of the forks,when the wheel is on to get it to turn free I have to pull the fork out and tighten the clamps both sides ,but when I tighten the nut at the end of the shaft it pulls the left disc rivets into the fork

Just a thought . . but could MickDb1's bike have the complete fork assembly off an ST, including the yokes, whereas yours just has the fork legs ?

It sounds as though the yokes have different spacing.

hi big jets
at the moment i am running with a twin disc set up.
It was one of micks.i used his three hub wheel and lt side caliper on my g/s forks.he used g/s forks not st ones.
have you got three ribs on your hub?

i have a friend who uses the original 2rib wheel.
i think its all about spacers and the discs.
we both have very little clearence between the disc rivet an dthe cutout in the fork leg.
if you need any info or pics let me know.

ah some confusion here.we airheads are gtting mixed up.

i thought g/s had 3 rib on the front, the same as the 80st.

i think the pic mick and proff have put ,is of the other bike mick had?
the wheel i have from mick is 2rib did he not have two bikes with twin disc?

i thought the 2 rib hub was fitted to twin disc spoke wheel police bikes?

Right - I recon / I think - the g/s hub has 3 ribs ( 2 hollows )
I am almost sure the ST has 4 ribs ( 3 hollows ). The ST hub is 5mm thicker/deeper than the g/s making 2 disc fitting not possible without machineing The discs only clear the legs by a 1mm or so on the g/s
The wheel I photographed is a g/s 21" wheel
I was told that some police spec bikes ( with spoked wheeled double disced )used the same hubs as the g/s

So mine with 3 ribs is a g/s wheel,and it should not take twin discs ,only the police hub allows it without feckin about with.Cheers everyday in Airheads is a day at school
