Hey guys, a big hello from Bonnie Scotland! :)

Gonna ask a stupid question for my first post.

Bought myself a very nice R1100GS and am 500% in love with it.

Well I have begun having some starter motor issues, I can hear it spinning but it isn't connecting with the flywheel 75% of the time to start the bike. I have since removed it and tested using jump leads, seems to work correctly so I am kinda at a loss, I am sure a replacement would correct the issue but do i need to spend the money would cleaning it up do the job??

During the removal some (C**K!) had the starter on super tight...so the hard to get to bolt at the bottom was a nightmare and it had almost rounded itself fully when by some miracle it started to unwind....anyway it needs replaced...where do I go for these, BMW dealer??

Thanks in advance,

Hope to get to know some of you guys.

Just clean out the bendix mech and lightly grease it check it runs smooth and
all should be well.

Cheers guys, gave the motor a good clean out and a little grease reinstalled and its working great! Bolts I got from halfords of all places (hanging my head in shame as we speak).

It won't hurt to grab one of those lucky dip bags of assorted metric allen head stainless steel nut and bolt sets from ebay.....you'll need them over time for those "pingggfuck!" moments and they're only 20ish quid for a big bag :thumb2
