Boot grip on wet roads

Crocs…. Crocs are lethal in mud, wet decking, oil soaked tarmac and wet kitchen floors……I’m still suffering the consequences

Those Sidi Adventure boots are VERY good , don’t leak don’t slip ,,, but they squeak so thing wild when walking .

i did have a pair of hi-tech walking boots with michelin soles, they were excellent grippers. not seen them since, probably too expensive for hi-tech.

So i have as said i have bought a pair of Daytona boots.
I have read that they do last many years.
So can i ask what owners of these boots use to care for them.

Wash off with water and dry thoroughly the apply water repellent Leder Gris. Think mine came via eBay but you can get it from Altberg.

So after reading on here this morning the news that Pidcock have closed.
Where i only bought the Daytona boots from them online on saturday.
I will give it a week and if i dont get them, i will have to get my money back.
For once i'm happy i used there ebay store as i'm covered by ebay for the money.
Did just check this morning to and they at this time only now have bikes for sale on both ebay and autotrader.

Just been in touch with eBay, and i need to open a case up tomorrow to get my money back.

Has anyone had or use ALT-BERG RoadRunner boots.
Any thoughts on them would be good please.

Had them before and have a new pair on order. Probably easier than faffing about trying to get my Daytonas refurbed in reality, and I prefer the Altberg soles myself. And they made here which is good. Very good boots 👍

Yes, had it resoled for £100 including postage. Light weight and comfy, can walk in it forever. Very good customer service. Not as robust and adjustable as the Daytona M Star GTX. Daytona, can't twist the sole, massif shank, good heel and shin protector.

I wear the Clubman Roadster pretty much everyday, and the Altberg boots are a top rate benchmark boot for riding.
Waterproof, and warm.
The quality is evident straight out the box. Leather is noticeably high end, and you can see they were hand made.
They seem pricey, but they really do last a long time, and take the all day every day punishment if you ride and then walk about in them.
Some don't like the styling, and they don't have any White plastic flashes that'll give you that extra 8 mph in bends- but they work well.
Soles are proven to last, and as mentioned, they can be resoled and repaired. The after sales service is easy to deal with, and you'll even get a phone call when they're ready to be sent back to you.
Definitely an old school customer service setup.
I recommend them.

So i bought a pair of Daytona boots from Pidcock eBay store last Saturday. Then on Monday it said they were away until the 25th.
All there items for sale were removed apart from some bikes. This morning i see all there items are back for sale on eBay.
But sadly i have not had my boots. I have opened a item not received case. But there has been no reply by Pidcock.
It is a shame as i want the boots still. I wont buy another pair of boots until i get my money back, just incase they do send the boots out to me.
I hate it when things like this happen and you are just left playing the waiting game.
So if anyone from Pidcock does come onto this forum and reads this, Can i have my Daytona Boots i have bought from you please as i would still like them.

The slippiest thing I ever encountered? Jam! I left a hotel in Austria, where the parking area was around by the bins. Clearly Adolf had dropped a sizeable jar of the stuff, which in the gloom of early morning I could not see. I could not work out why my right boot kept sliding (quite forcefully) off the footrest. After an hour of this nonsense I stopped. Getting jam off a boot’s sole on the roadside is not straightforward, trust me.
That is a heck of a jam to be in one false move and you would have been toast, feet off the footrest and headbutt(ered) the tarmac.

So I have this morning got around to again and bought a pair of Daytona boots.
After being let down by "Pidcock", this time i got them from "Moto-Central".
I had an email yesterday from them with info on there black friday deals.
I was looking for a pair of Road Star, but the Travel Star boots were only £34.41 more.
So i paid just £358.40 for the Travel Star Pro which included the black friday 20% off deal which came in at just under a £90 saving.
The Daytona boots will be mainly used for my winter riding and i will carry on using my RST boots the rest of the year.

I’ve just picked up a set of Travel Star Pro to replace my Clubman’s that have started leaking. After a few weeks wearing them they aren’t to bad, but the sole isn’t in the same league as the Altberg one. The Clubman’s have done me well over the years but even though I can have them resoled they say they won’t change the lining unfortunately.

My new boots are not here yet, but I have been looking for the Daytona webpage to register them to get the 3 year warranty, but cant find anything about this.
Does anyone know how you go about getting the extra 2 years ?
