Is it my imagination ?

I hate story tellers when it comes to performance.... louder is not always faster.

I really do not know what the truth is today

However, it is winter, roads are wet, salted, slippery, and generally not conducive to riding like a twat (Not that I do that, or condone that sort of riding)

I did only 20 miles, went to Maidstone , Machine Mart to buy a 6 inch bench Vice for the garage, and then back .
There are a few roundabouts on the way, some curvy bits and some straights.
My riding style is probably best described as "Brisk" but I have no points yet as testament to that.
Going there, I rode sensibly, traffic etc.
Comming back at one point I rolled on the throttle in 2nd or 3rd, and the front end became light and must have lifted an inch or so off the road, now I have never wheelied intentionally in my life, at least not since flipping a TS125 when I was 14 years old, and had to explain to my dad
Over the years I have had bikes raise front wheels, but then only when accelerating hard to beat traffic etc, and clearly the usual offroad type air, but never intentional or skilled wheelies.

Now to the point of that longwinded explanation......

The bike on not even brisk acceleration today on the way back, in 1st, or roll on in 2nd and 3rd gears kept on heading for the sky, again, I say inches, not feet.

I would like to say that the sound is good, and not at all intrusive (Decibell killer in place) so cancelling out "sounding faster" I would say there is deffo more to this bike now with the BOS full system, I have not added the K&N filter yet either , as I needed to get mobile this morning.

End result: Chuffed to bits, and I will have to be aware that there is a bit more go to this bike now than the more than ample before.

What was anyone elses experience with the changes ??

:D

Defo my experience as well.

It goes a long way towards getting rid of the flat spot before 5k rpm and generally fattens the mid range which all adds up to a more 'rideable' engine. You'll also notice (especially after the filter change and when riding in 'tw@t' mode :augie) more of a 'kick' at 5 1/2k rpm and a willingness to rev out more :thumb2

Glad you like it and, as you say, it's not too loud at all just a nice, fuitier sound.

Oh, and if you want a similar increase in mid range and top end over and above what you already have achieved I can highly reccomend a fuel controller :)

i fited a Bos end can on mine a couple of months ago, sounds pretty good, but i'm not sure if maybe too loud sometimes, (mind you you should hear my TL with the cutdown renegades on it) have removed the DB killer, it does feel a bit more grunty in the mid range though,
adria has done the opposite to hers fitted remus(i think) front pipes with the standard silencer, she says it takes off like a scalded cat now, wheelies really well off the power in second gear too, removing the cat seems to have done a lot more than just replacing the end can,

:D nice to hear a man pleased with his work !;)
I can confirm it's not just your imagination as I did mine in stages, I did the headers first and that made a huge difference but little noise increase with the std can fitted, then I did the can and that just crisped up the mid a tad more, like you tho, very pleased with the results:thumb2

Was this due to the exhaust or maybe the heavy vice on the back of the bike.

I have had a Boss system and yes it does feel quicker but much too noisy for a long trip

Vice only weighs about 7kg IIRC, and was in the bottom of my pannier.
When Nicola and I together are on the bike, clearly dynamics change, but only once with her on the back and a reasonably spirited pull away to get ahead of a tosshead in an Alfa did the front come up quite a bit (made me :D )

No, I think there has to be enough oomph in the changes to feel what I felt.

Still , looking forward to clean roads, and unrestricted Euro travel in 2009.

Found mine to be obnoxious on longer trips. Ended up replacing the cat with a cheap ebay header and keeping the stock OE can. It's a great setup.

Hi guys ( newbie here ) first post for me here

I absolutely love the BOS setup, I did go back to the stock paper filter though as the K&N is not very happy when off roading (I witnessed a crap load of water sucked in on a buddies GSA that had a K&N) and did not notice a performance change at all, I guess if you plug it into a Dyno you will notice a difference but I highly doubt it will be noticed..

It is louder but not a deal killer to me, I just rode 1600 miles roundtrip and it was fantastic.
