I replaced the standard header and can on my 2008 1200GS recently with a full Bos system, headers and can. The bike runs well, pulls better, sounds good, but I get a popping exhaust sound while changing down at speed.
It is not an unpleasant sound, not quite a backfire, sounds quite sporty, but something I did not get with the stock setup. My concern is it may indicate something wrong, perhaps a weak mixture, as 2008 bikes are supposed to run weak already, or something incorrect in the install.
Have not altered any settings, but I did the TPS reset, and even disconnected the battery for a few mins to reset Lambda sensor settings, but popping remains.
It has been suggested this evening it may be air getting in at the header pipes junction with the exhaust manifold, as I did not use any sealer when installing. I can check that out tomorrow but looking for any ideas from here first.

wouldnt have noticed the popping from the standard one, but its now been amplified and you will hear
it just when you go from trailling throttle to power on.
