.... has some play in it
Noticed a knock and found play in the bottom bolt area of the front shock, where it connects to the front wishbone.
Is there a sleeve or bush in there that can be replaced, or is it a new shock

I have done a search but cant find anything on the subject, my haynes manual is as useful as a chocolate fire guard :blast

Help gratefully appreciated :thumb2

The shock 'eye' will have a rubber ring in it that is in turn sleeved by a steel bush. Not easy to replace yourself but I'm guessing one of the firms that rebuilds shocks might be able to do it?

It may be worth checking the bolt first to see if it's tight and if so, remove it to check it's not worn (rather than the bush).

Thanks mate, gonna stip it down tomorrow but just wanted a heads up on what to look for :beerjug::beerjug:

Got the bottom bolt out :thumb2 seems OK  so looks like a new shock  However ... I can't get the feckin thing out, not enough clearance for it to drop out, :blast I have taken the crash bars off 'cos I thought they were stopping the wishbone from dropping far enough, still no good ... can only think that I will have to drop the forks from the yokes a tad, (only need another half inch) have to leave it till monday now, 12 hour shifts over the weekend.

By the way .. its a 06 GSA ... any idea's anybody

It's a right old kerfuffle and the crashbars crossbar has to come off along with the plastic alternator belt cover :clap

Tell me about it :blast
I did wonder if taking the alternator cover would give me enough room :beerjug:

Waiting to see what the link is that Ottomunch comes up with .. together we can beat this thing :rob:rob :JB

It's a real squeeze as you have found out. Be sure to check there is no play in the shock top mount once the wishbone is unbolted, there should be a rubber donut above and below the top mount. I had one missing when fitting Wilbers to my 2004 bike, handling was interesting!

I did exactly the same thing:eek:
