Hi everyone, am new owner of a 14 plate RT1200 LE. Was one of the recall bikes and had only done done 500 miles from new (May2014) before being taken back in. Obviously pretty heavily discounted against a new one and fitted with a Garmin as well.

Had it one week and more than doubled the mileage in 2 excursions including a 275 miler on sunday up round Rutland water with my buddy on his Triumph Trophy. Moved from an Aprillia Caponord , ADD Travel Pack to get here, and am very pleased to be where I am with a super ride and looking forward to some lengthy trips including France and Western Alps. Already finding this site very useful. :thumb

I did exactly the same. Very happy so far and have added 3,000 to a bike with 400 miles on the clock in just under three (winter) months

Rude question (sort of) but what are these recalled fixers going for?

And presumably they come with the full warranty from date of purchase, or are they backdating that to its initial sale date?

Have a look on MCN or Biketrader. If you find some low mileage 14 plates in blue, likely to be a recall jobbie.
Vines Guildford have a few in I think. High spec LE circa £13500 inc topbox and maybe a Nav V. Have seen one with a radio for similar. £3K savings against a new one?

Welcome and enjoy the bike. I can't wait to get to Austria on mine:D

Yep, wanna go back there as well, and Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Pecos, Spain, Scotland ...oh bugger ...getting too old to get round them all again.:blast

They have one for £12k at the mo, 14 plate with 700 miles

I got one.. Every available extra, with 500 miles. £13.5k

Welcome to the site. I bought a fully loaded recall bike 14 plate back last September, and have put a couple of thousand miles on it. Brilliant bike.

In December 2013 I bought a 6 month old RT £11000, 11 month & 6K miles later,l Allen Jeffries gave me £10250 against a recall, fully loaded LE 1400 miles, £12750. How could I turn it down! Happy days.

Welcome and enjoy, spring is just knocking...:beerjug:

Rear shock or season? ;) (sorry, couldn't resist)

I bought a low mileage second hand one just before the recall hit (circa 300 miles on clock), therefore got a reasonable discount over new, but obviously not as good as some of those quoted here.

It is a cracking bike though!

It will be interesting to hear about the 'financials' from owners of these bikes as they start to trade.

Switching to plain English, do you feel that there may be a reduced trade in value in (say) three years because of the bike being a recall??
If so, would there be any difference between a recall/resold bike value and a recall which was still with the same owner from new.
Or are you saying that the value of all recalled RT's could be lower because of the recall??
Why would this be?

As I understand it BMW ended up with a load of perfectly sound, almost brand new bikes, which had already been sold once at full price, and which the dealers were allowed to "bid" for and sell at again at discounted prices, which some would say equate to a first years depreciation. Not sure I can see where a sound reason for any subsequent p/x reduction comes in..unless all RT's subject to recall will be "downgraded", and this would surely risk devaluing the brand.

But you are correct when you say it will be interesting to see how this pans out.

Why would there be a reduction in the part ex figure?

The suspension was fixed by the manufacturer so why would there be a pricing hang over say 3 years down the line.
