Bought a Stelvio

Keep on coming back to this paint scheme and thinking what it would look like in the Alitalia colours ( swapping the blue for green) . Anybody a whizz with Photoshop)
That was exactly my first thought from the first picture. I think it would look great. It would be great to see if anyone can photoshop it.

They did a tricolore and it looked minging.

Who wants to ride around looking like a bad Italian flag? The colourscheme on the Stelvio is supposed to represent mountaineering - no idea why, as I've never seen a red, white and blue tent.

Maybe it’s something to do with the Stelvio Pass. I think that it’s in the mountains somewhere? Italy maybe?

Nothing to do with that. The coordinates are printed on the bike. The colour scheme references mountaineering.

Limited to a number of bikes equal to the height of the Stelvio I think. So linked.

the Stelvio was the one bike i wanted to get a test but they were all booked at the ABR this year.

Before I took out the Stelvio for a test ride the sales staff asked which other bikes I had and I told them I also have a 1999 r1150gs and a 2021 r1250gsa.

He said that the Stelvio would be nearer in character to the 1150, which is true BUT in terms of performance and levels of sophistication I would say that regarding performance it was much closer if not better than that of my old 2011 r1200gsa tc and equipment and finish were far better than my 2014 r1200gsa and on par to that of my 2018 model r1200gsa

I think the bike is very well put together, with a host of useful standard equipment. The accessories are reasonably priced (£130 for a pair of engine bars etc) and servicing costs too.

At £16k for a fully loaded machine, it will sit well by my 1300GSA.

Enjoy, they are a great bike and I loved mine. I just loved my V85 a little bit more. Most probably my favourite engine of any bike I've ever owned.

Nearly bought your old one but this one had more toys fitted and as a third(ish) bike it will not be doing huge miles so the extra 3000 miles it has done so far will make no difference in the long term .

Unless of course I get itchy feet and change it like I did with my old f800gsa, Versys 650 and TDM900 etc (usually I keep bikes for years , Katana ... 41 years, CCM ....11yrs )

I somehow doubt it though and both my R1150GS and R1250 GSA are being kept long term ( BMW no longer make any bikes I would like to own , other than the R12GS and that would be no good as a two up tourer)..

Have always wanted to own a Guzzi (a mate of mine was well into them before he died ) and I actually tested the Stelvio NTX 8V back in 2011 and really wanted to like it , the finish was excellent and I loved its looks but while testing it the engine top end started to rattle like a washing machine full of scrap metal and the gearchange became very difficult, also it was a bit cramped for the two of us and the front forks were squidgy.

Never mind

Raison d'etre behind the tribute (as per Guzzi website )

The Stelvio Duecento Tributo, a numbered limited edition, is a tribute to the Stelvio Pass, which opened in the Dolomites in 1825. Available in just 2758 units, a nod to the 2758-metre altitude of the renowned Alpine pass whose 88 legendary curves have been synonymous with adventure for 200 years. Every unit has a unique number engraved on the handlebar riser and is kitted out with the most comprehensive range of standard features of any bike in the Moto Guzzi family.
Manufactured with pride in the new factory at Mandello del Lario

Number 719 being delivered first thing tomorrow, so made a nice little space for it.

Not going to rush to do anything to it. See what the MIA connectivity is all about before shopping for a bracket for my Zumo and maybe a cool cover for the riders seat. Other than that, I'm trying to stay way from farkles and just enjoy the thing as it left the factory.

Only dealer installed extras are a DataTag and engine bars.

Great looking bikes, if I downsized from my 1290 Adventure one of these would be a contender, barely more than 800 Triumph / 1050 Suzuki money, and I am assuming 1 year old used ones area fair chunk cheaper too.

The Dusc cases are pretty good, light and waterproof. With the Pro racks you can just unclip the fasteners in 5 mins and take them off.

The racks and the duscs were still about £300 cheaper than the Guzzi panniers, and there’s 10% off with a few codes out there like “mancavemoto” from the YouTube channel will get you 10% off a Dusc kit with the Pro racks putting it at around £650 for the Panniers, racks, lock kit, pannier mount kit and locking fastener kit for the racks.

I’ve got the 33 litre Medium boxes as I try to pack light, but there’s no difference in price between the Large 41 litre and the medium.

A quick clean after my recent 3 week trip around Eastern Europe and the alps and racks popped off, can hardly see the remaining fittings.

Agreed . Dusc panniers are brilliant . Got them on my Vstrom and use one as top box on X-ADV
