Bought a Stelvio

Seems a bit Jekyll and Hyde, perhaps it’s taking me longer than usual to get the hang of it. The quick shifter works well and certainly smooths out the gear changes, it’s never going to be a town bike, not in my hands, anyway.
If I recall it also gets quite toasty when in town!

And Dearden’s have a Duecento Tributo for £13.5k. I test rode a stock one, liked it, but not what they had it up for at the time. Asked if there was any movement on price but they said no. I’d have bought it for 13.5 if they’d offered that but moved on now. Shame.

Went out this morning and did a 130 mile run and bike is impressing me more and more, loads of character and the power delivery is great and just so relaxing in comparison to the KTM .
Averaging 54 mpg at sensible speeds although still not happy with the Michelin tyres ( same as the r1250gsa came with and they really suited it) ,so booked it in to get the Avons sitting in the garage fitted at the back end of next week.

My OEM Annakees lasted 8500 miles, to be fair they were ok.
Put CTA 3 on about 500 miles ago, very happy with them.
My Stelvio does seem to push the front tyre pretty hard when cornering quickly...

Mine is similar ,it actually feels like it is over tyred on the front . My r1250gsa has TA 3 's fitted and the front profile is narrower and more rounded than the Michelins and on the BMW it made the bike turn in faster but also grip better.
Hopefully the road pattern sports touring tyres will have the same effect

Took the front and rear wheels off the Guzzi after tea to get the new tyres fitted tomorrow , by god the rear axle nut was tight, 65mm 3/4 drive 12 point socket on a breaker bar and using an old Bandit 1200 fork leg on the bar , I had the wife pressing on the rear brake to little effect (ended up with her standing on the rear brake pedal which eventually worked ). Luckily I have a torque wrench that goes up to 260 NM to retighten the thing20260416_182634.jpg20260416_174302.jpg20260416_182615.jpg

Huge difference with the new tyres, bike turns quicker in the bends but with more grip, the feeling that the bike is pushing the front end on into bends has gone. As an aside temp was hovering around 6 degrees but the tyres had plenty of heat in them, warm to the touch after the ride

I like the deep green colour and also the gray valve covers on it.

Another 120 miles or so yesterday and an average of 52 mpg ,when it goes in for service in August the right side decompressor valve is being deleted which is the factory cure for the rattle on cold start up after standing idle for a few weeks

Mine was bought with std seat and with a 33" inside leg I was flat footed with bent knees , with the higher seat I can still get both feet flat on the ground with slightly bent knees.
Compared to my standard r1150gs the seat is slightly lower and narrower and in comparison to my r1250gsa with the comfort seat it is appreciably lower also from riding a standard r1250gs a couple of years ago I reckon the Stelvio is lower and the seat (either height ) are more comfortable
