Finally got my ass into gear and bought the quest, it'll arrive wednesday once i fetched it..... :bounce1

I want to mount it on the bike (1100 GS), and want your valued opinion on which mount to use....TT, Ram etc

I'll be getting autocom soon enough, so it'll have to be compatible with that. Can't think of any other questions, altho' i'll probably be back real soon :D

I have just bought a quest and have mounted it above the clocks on my 12. I used the Ram holder and arm 149Z ordered from GPSW, arrived next day total cost £29.

This option doesnt provide power or sound as is so I intend to order the QPAC lead necessary to connect it to my battery and autocom. I believe these are about £35.

First thing to consider is whereabouts you want it: over your clocks, over your switches, left, right or in the middle of the bars then start looking for mounts to suit.

There are really only two holders; the genuine Garmin (powered+sound @ about £50) or the RAM (£10 ish but you need to add a QPAC lead). Both of these need some manner of fixing to the bike. It would seem that most people are going for the RAM arms as I did.

The RAM holder has a 'latch' which clips over the top of the unit and IMHO looks slightly more secure if your going to bump about a bit.

Hope this helps

Ralph :)

Sorry I forgot the TT mounts, mainly because they cost more than Im prepared to pay and I dont like the look of them. :)

Migsel mount is also a good option. Coupla pics on ram mount uk site, or migsels own I think

From what I hear, the RAM cradle is the better solution.

And from what I know, my speedo mount is too :D

From this thread.

That's just the car cradle, from the early days when there were no proper bike cradles yet. But Rabbitson is still using it on his bike, without a problem.

Cheers,
Michel
