Brake Bleeder

Has anyone used or own a Mityvac Brake Bleed Kit. I am thinking of buying one and any feedback would be appreciated.
 
Yep use one.........makes it quick to pull the fluid through instead of pissing about squeezing/pressing leaver.....still a messy job and always go back for bit of tube in jar just to firm things up.....

Should add, I bought mine cheap at a show though...
 
I have one.

It does the job. But I always seem to be having air drawn in the side of the tube where it sits on the bleed nipple. Probably me just being cack handed.

Done three bikes with it recently and everything works.

Still a bit of a faff though. But worth it.

+1 for both. Sealing round the bleed nipple seems to be an issue, I usually end up having to finish of with a tube & one way valve in a jar, just to make sure all is well.
 
Bikes have very little brake fluid in the system it's hardly worth it by the time you've attached it and then using it to bleed a few cc's of fluid, and fecked about afterwards cleaning it up.

Just the cleaning takes longer than bleeding all the brakes and clutch with a one way valve and a tube :D

But we are men and we like gadgets. Even if we don't know what to do with them.

Yes miss-guided enthusiasm!

Think it is a toss up between a one way valve and the bleed kit.

Sensibly the one way valve is perfectly adaquate for the few times i would use it.
 
I've had one for years and it is the only thing that has managed to properly bleed the front brake anti dive system on my kat.
I've used it on the old 1150 and it is great on cars as well.
 
I use a bit of old fuel line which is a nice snug fit on the nipple so no leaks and a 60mm syringe which I bought as a pack of 5 for no more than a fiver off Ebay. The syringes are also useful for changing FD/Fork Oil etc.
 
Hein Gericke does a brake reservoir thingy with 3 rubber nipple adapters (ooo er Missus)

I have the Mityvac but find it more practical to use the HG item @ a Fiver

Whats the diameter of the fuel line please?
 
On my old banger, '82 R100RS, it's difficult to get rid of trapped air in the line from the master cylinder to the back brake. Of course, all you have to do while changing the fluid is to make sure that the level in the master cylinder doesn't fall too low: simples. :blast I get caught out every 'kin time (or it seems like it), life is SO much easier with the Mityvac.

As Keith Chapman says, leakage of bubbles around the nipple is misleading, but in reality it's not an issue, I find, just ignore them and keep on bleeding until the brake lever/pedal firms up. I'm glad I got mine. :thumb2
