Brake discs and pads

I got an advisory on last MOT of needing new discs soon. In the hope it will stop raining one day, I thought I had better get it done this summer....

Bike is a 2002 R1150 GS (with abs - but I don't think that makes any difference)

Anyone got any recommendations for discs (front and rear) and for pads. Obviosly not getting orig BMW ones, far too expensive, I wouldn't be able to get the new tyres needed in the near future....looks like an expensive summer!). Also, suppliers of discs/pads.

I'll send Steptoe a message (did there used to be a link from here?) - I'd rather keep things with the forum.

Sounds like F&B must still be going then...have used them in the past, but seem to have got over 15k from my last set of tyres, so it is 4 or 5 years since I was last there (no idea how I got 15K, last two sets before them were 8K each, same tyres, same bike, same riding style....but I have ridden a lot in the rain, wonder if that helps!)

get your discs checked incase the tester was bein over zealous , its been known,
you might not need em for a few years yet

steve at f&b sandbach is still working hard,same address. try a search for his contact details.He would also fit discs and pads if needed.

I hadn't thought of that - if Steve has the wheels out to fit tyres, then doing discs at same time makes sense. I'm off on holiday tomorrow, but will give him a ring when I get back. I have no idea of hios address - but I know which house it is.

I'll get a micrometer screw guage from work and check the discs - if they have anouthe ryear or two, then I can afford petrol this year.
