BRAKE FAILURE ABS PUMP

When I had problems with the servo pump recently I asked if this was a common problem and the reply was no it is not. Then interestingly the new one gave up 4 weeks later. On the bright side this unit has a memory, and any brake failure that the dealer downloads from the system has to be passed on to BMW. So on the bright side, at least if this problem becomes common BMW will have to do something about it.
Does anyone have any idea who I could contact I.e. deapartment of transport to express my concerns over the brake failure, without the ABS warning lights indicating this?

Customer services at BMW WERE AS USEFUL AS A CHOCOLATE TEAPOT. I intend to write to BMW Germany and air my complaints, fortunately I know a fluent German speaker.

I sent an email to BMW about the issue of brake failure a couple of weeks ago. I have had a few occaisions where the servo failed on me, but it is an intermittent problem which doesnt show up on the fault log.

Today I recieved a call from Glen at Park Lane asking me to take it in for them to check it out again.

So as far as I'm concerned they are taking it seriously & top marks to them.

Had same thing a couple of months ago.
Lost all rear brake three times in a month.
Pretty sure it didn't show in a diagnostic dump.
Got a new ABS pump on warranty.
Good job as I think they cost ~£800

Interesting to note that you say that there was no fault found by your dealer. SPC told me that the system? will not only log a brake failure,but give the time and date of this failure.

why do i get the feeling that BM aren't going to do something until there's a serious accident or worse

I had this problem with a brand new (17 miles) bike last year. Then again with its replacement this year - see previous posts.

Seems like its a bigger problem than BM are willing to admit.

This has been said before, but why oh why do we need servo brakes. If I turn off my abs I can lock the front wheel up no problem with ten year old brembo's.

Could someone explain the need for servos

When I spoke to Glenn at Park Lane, he seemed to think it was a problem with a switch ?? I'll find out more next week.

Just as I was typing the postie dropped a letter from BMW customer services through the letter box. They think its the ABS switch on the "break" lever. Hope they fix bikes better than they spell

Just seen your reply eliminator.I did the work on simonm's bike and the flannel spc have given you is a complete load of B*****K's. Bet they till you the moon is made of cheese now!

You need the servo to enable you to over-brake and justify the ABS.

Yeah, right.

But, did anyone like riding servos without the ABS? For me it was really the insurance to over-brake.

Servos will never ever give you the feeling of a brake like on the Speed Triple or Fireblade, both brakes are state of the art!
