After a trip to Germany, I feel the rear pads have almost but had it on my 1290. The brake pedal travel is to long and most of the bite is at the acute foot angle. I’d say these done well for being original pads and having done 20350 miles.

What do fellow KTM riders suggest I do, stick with OEM parts or go try EBC or another alternative.

Thanks

EBC HH Sintered

Despite having Brembo Stylema with Brembo pads in on the Ducati the braking both in stopping power and feel/ feedback was greatly improved with the EBC

From the photo would say the pads still have some life left in them - brake lever travel will likely be down to the fluid needing changing not the thickness of the Pads.

Th Brake fluid was changed at last (very expensive) service just 1500 miles ago.

I guess the lever can be adjusted, but what’s the point if in say 2000 miles I’ll be changing the pads. Perhaps I’ll go on a solo ride and see how they perform, with only me on the bike.

Hopefully they did it then ;)

For the cost of pads suggest you change them anyway and see if that improves matters - if changing them yourself and fluid level still on the max mark remember to remove some before pushing the pistons in to fit the new thicker pads.

In theory though the brake lever travel should not be dependant on the thickness of the pads so long as you have fluid in the rear brake reservoir.

Fitted SBS street pads to front of my 1290 as the OE pads were depositing shit on the discs and giving a feeling like a slight warp.

Bit more bite & feel, and hopefully permenant cure to the grabbiness.

Picked up a set of EBC double sintered pads today from SBS. they have price matched them to Deamon Tweaks. so only cost £18. Also needed a new pressure spring, as old one had one of the tabs broken, so during my trip to `Germany last week, it was rubbing on the disk and worn a groove in it self.

`The old pads have done 20400 miles give or take or around 60% worn, so popped them back in and will be taking the new set with me on the forthcoming trip. If I do not like how the old ones perform, then it is a 5 minute job to whip them out, an requires no tools to get it done.

Braking is over rated
:thumbHence why my brake pads (all round) have lasted 20400 miles and still have life in them.:tarka

On both of my GS and GSA @ 6000-7000 miles, I had to replace the rear pads.

Sold my 1190Adv with 32k miles and still on original front pads. Rears lasted 25k. Superb engine braking the main reason there was low pad wear. I'd imagine the 1290 is the same
