sorry if this seems a stupid question, but is it normal for there to be a slight whining noise when using the brake lever?, its when the lever is pulled or the pedal pushed, it stops when released , the noise as far as i can tell comes from the handlebar area not the disc area, the brakes are working fine, its just that this is only my second bike and the first (a honda) didnt have this noise, is it just that i have abs on this one?

all input appreciated, even if its to call me an eeeeejit :)

cheers

If it's a servo ABS, yes. At a standstill you'll hear the servo (under the tank) whine when you pull the lever or prod the pedal. Later 1150's and early 1200s (up to '07 IIRC) had it.
