Brand new, 2019 R1250GS “unsafe to drive” due to front Calliper leakage

I pick up my new 1250 tomorrow, looking forward to it. And if a real 1250 comes out in 2 years time, I'll trade my beta test bike and buy another one. Life is full of options. Remember in two years time they will be more expensive as we will be out of the EU :)

Do you now something about BREXIT that the rest of us don’t?

Picked up my 1250RT today, done 45 miles, can report the brakes are working fine :)

BMW has a long history in sticking to their decisions and sort out problems rather than run and hide.

Let's hope it doesn't take the 4/5 years it took to sort EWS, final drive bearings and petrol pumps on the early R1200GS.

I have a GSA and owned it for two years and done 22000 miles my first BMW ever as always mainly had Hondas before. I love-my BMW the way it rides and its comfort but i will say I have never owned a bike with so many parts replaced under warranty!
Front Shock leaking oil
Front Fork recall
Left Hand switch gear
Full exhaust (Valve Stuck)
Bearing in rear shaft pivot
Oh and Rattle from engine that I was told was a faulty batch of exhaust valves all replaced

Still love the bike it has never let me down when riding just a shame a premium brand with premium prices has such a shoddy supply chain.

Bit after all that, they have never questioned fixing the the issues and always given me a replacement toy to play with. Should I buy another BMW given the issues probably not will i probably Yes

Problems with part failures is rather annoying, but getting good service and a decent courtesy bike, to replace your bike while its in, with no quibbling, makes Bmw the best for me. There are a few motoradd dealers I wouldn’t use, but most are very good.

My previous couple of bikes have been hondas, generally very reliable, but dealers are rubbish and warranty claim was rejected due to honda not seeing it as a problem on a brand new bike.

The only good one I’ve come across is CW in Dorchester.
My local dealer in Guernsey is dire. Most people buy from CW and then take bikes back there for servicing or Rennes in France.

I’ve had dealings with N Oxford and Coopers in Tunbridge Wells. Both shite.
Totally puts me off buying a new BMW though nothing in the current range floats my boat, nor does the rubbish finish and constant recalls/design flaws.

Wollaston is my local and North Oxford is part of the group since a few a years ago. From what I understand is that the service at NOG is better than before. Wollaston on the other hand, I never had problems concerning customer service. Yes they are some distance from you so not really relevant.

But is a real shame when a newly bought bike has so much done to it in the warranty period. BMW have left me a bit cold regarding the company's attitude towards the punters when it comes to selling new models. The very fact that you are a beta tester is much denied but the 2nd or 3rd year product always gets a subtle upgrade. Wonder why? Yes the GS/GSA is a very good all rounder and such I'll have one in the garage but not at the expense of leaking calipers, loose spokes, failing TFTs etc. As for the dealers, I take my hat of for my local. Best service award by BMW.

All of my BMWs have had faults (except maybe my rockster) but they have never left me stranded.
I am fortunate to have a good relationship with my dealer so it all gets sorted.
I think you can forgive the flaws if you get the service. If you don’t it will sour your opinion. Bmw really need to spank the dealers that have consistently bad customer service

....... Bmw really need to spank the dealers that have consistently bad customer service

I think that is a good point. BMW relies heavily on their dealers when deciding to accept costly repairs.
My own dealer is a briliant example of such.
They are 'yes' people all the way, BMW backs them up 100%, and customers keep coming back. Even if they are located in a small village, they sell almost half of all the BMWs in the country.
I have had almost no problems with all the BMWs in my ownership, mostly recalls. And I may have the recalls done at my convenience.
The dealer has made space for a waiting area, so waiting for the bike makes you meet other bikers.
It gives the customers a good feeling. Doesn't cost much extra for the dealer and generates lots of extra buissiness.
A pitty that this seemingly simple extra seems to be a hidden secret for a few dealers.

It costs BMW in the long run to have these dealers pissing off customers.

If you only have one dealer near you (as is the case for many on this list) and they put you off BMW you will move to another brand.
The problem for BMW is you may move for good as who wants to take a gamble with that much money that the dealer isn’t going to be a dickhead again.
