So ...Friday bike gets taken off the road. Come Monday my new X3 gets taken off the road with warning of too much oil in the engine. Right out of the blue with 5k on the clock. Apparently most likely diesel spill into oil.
You really couldn’t make it up could you?
My brand loyalty is in tatters...

It,s only small stuff apparently (Knutk).............:blast feel sorry for you, but way better fixed.

Funny how a couple of bikes out of the hundreds sold have got a brake problem and everyone is jumping on the wagon harping on about it.

My bike was built in January 2019 and the brakes are great thank you.

Come on and get real, sometimes stuff goes wrong and then it gets fixed but just like the loose spokes thread I did pop out and check for leaks the other day and found none, better safe so thanks for the heads up anyway.

The copy of the letter earlier in the thread has nothing to do with these two bikes. So who knows how many bikes with faulty brakes have been around?
Would you care to enlighten us how you do?
Do you think we should not have started the discussion then?

No, the discussion should not have been started because there are no facts.
A bike was kept by a dealer because there was something wrong and a fluid leak on the brake caliper . We don't know the cause or what part the dealer is waiting for.

Have exactly the same problem, leak on the front right caliper 6 weeks ago, on my R1250GS Build Dec 2018. Caliper replaced from a newer build and leaked again so now waiting in line (a great British tradition) for another set. Dealership service people are good and have gone out their way for me but with a poor quality build problem BMW need to step up and support their dealers. Loaning BMW the best part of £Ks for a bike that is unsafe is not my idea of an investment. Apologies my very first post

Fact :--

Dear sir
Thank you for your message of February 27, 2019.
In fact, we are very occasionally aware of complaints of leaking brake calipers from our ongoing field observations.
The cause of this was recognized and stopped by the manufacturer last year. The built-in brake calipers, as well as the spare parts, now have the usual quality.
In the case of complaint, the corresponding parts are of course replaced with new components.
Yours sincerely, Bayerische Motoren Werke Aktiengesellschaft i.A.

Isn’t that fact regarding the problem?
Furthermore, you think it’s worth posting about a low level fuel warning but not faulty brakes???

Haven't a clue what you are talking about now -- I'll leave you to it.

Might be worth asking your dealer exactly what the problem with the caliper is and what part they are waiting for?. And expected deliver date for the part.
Then post it here and you may help anyone else who might have the problem rather than scaremongering.
Why post with such an emotive heading ----" Brand new 2019 r1250gs "unsafe to drive" due to front caliper leakage". BMW dealer has acknowledge a problem of weeping fluid on your bike and are doing what they can to fix it. Get over it!.

Because that exactly - to the letter - what the dealer told me
