Brand new Moto Guzzi v100s corrosion

Well, either MG are lying or they simply haven't done the due diligence needed when a complaint of this magnitude occurs that impacts on their reputation, irrespective of where the contract lays. Do they not comprehend what damage to their UK sales just a handful of forum threads like this can have? We live in a digital age and the first thing many do when researching new or used bikes is to scour the internet for dealer reputations, for known faults and for things like build quality issue. My view is that it is unlikely that they have no clue about prior issues with this dealer but also that being remote, have left issues like this to be fought between customer and dealer. Either way, it doesn't look good for MG and any notion I might have had of buying a Mandello as my next bike are out the window. Way to go MG!

When I set out to look for a used RS, I did do my homework and despite all the corrosion issues, driveshaft and electrical issues I came across, the one thing which settled my choice was the reputation for customer care that my local Motorrad dealer had. Bye and large if the bikes do give problems, the customer is looked after at least. It gave peace of mind. I can't say the same about MG sadly.

Perhaps that's what the meeting was about yesterday? They where advising them their "preferred course" was for them to give you your money back. I'd like to hope it was.

@Morety I really love the look of the v100s and would have bought another from a different dealer, unfortunately not now because if I buy into a brand I would like to know the manufacturer will help when help is needed and like motorrad I’ve had 2 gs wc bikes replaced for new bikes at the very early stages when they first came out, I had a brand new engine in my f800gs replaced whilst just outside warranty due to corrosion. Usually I find all motorrad dealers great,

The likes of MSC are charlatans, all this for £500 they must be completely stupid because even if they lost one buyer that’s ££££ but it won’t just be one, it will be many, as said it’s a digital age people buy from reviews and there google reviews ain’t looking to good.

More along the lines of: ‘We have not authorised you to sell bikes as this discount, now look at the mess you’ve created. Our view is you should return your clients money or we will take your concession away’

Still doesn’t explain where this dodgy bike came from though.

What’s more worrying is they will Sell it as used after rattle canning the engine and touching the scratched frame up, someone poor fella /women will not have a clue of its hidden past.

This is getting out of hand now

I wouldn't go into the shop with your mate. I'd be going down the legal route leaving it up to the powers that be to get back the monies your are owed (y)
Best adivce you'll get today Dave!

Don't go down to the shop tomorrow - you don't need to, and if you do have to go down the Small Claims route to recover the rest of your losses, you may find the Court's perception about your motives for the visit may go against you!

You've already instigated legal proceedings so just let that run its natural course. Frustrating as it is, you'll get there in the end.

In the meantime you've got a nice big wedge in the bank account to go do a deal on a new motorcycle - how exciting is that! (y)

they will, because when you get the rest of your money back, you can publish the VIN on faceplant, MGCGB, GSERS, Guzziriders, youtube, etc…

I know i know your all right I need to avoid going to confront them, it probably won’t help if I do and will just undo what I’ve already started legal wise.

I can afford to lose the £400 ish however it’s going to be easier to try and get £400 back than it would have been to get £15k, ill proceed with the small claims and get CCJ against them.

When I was not happy about a declined warranty claim on my V85TT, telephoning the UK number diverted the call to Italy, though very friendly and polite, the advisor referred me back to the dealer, so absolutely no support whatsoever. Any issues with a Guzzi under warranty stops with the dealer, so emphasis on finding the right one, reputation is key.

Do a full report of your problems on social media platforms and send a copy to MG and see what happens. They really hurt thinking that it might go world wide

Better still MCN

I’m going to be contacting all the bike mags, because rogue dealers like MSC should take full responsibility, I’ve got Andrew Webster-noble stating “I have inspected the bike this morning and it is certainly not representative of the quality we expect from Moto Guzzi”

And Roz Webster-Noble stating “ The marks you mentioned are very minor cosmetic imperfections that can be easily rectified under warranty, they have no impact on its function. A vehicle needs to have a significant fault to be eligible for rejection”

A business owner not knowing sale of the goods act , under the consumer rights act 2015, goods you supply should be of satisfactory quality, as there was a problem with the goods when I bought them the bike was described ‘as brand new so should not even have minor imperfections and these imperfections are far from minor, therefore it’s plain as daylight they are in in breach of the sale of goods act and this bike should never have left there shop.

When I get a CCJ against @msc Ltd I’ll be informing Moto Guzzi.

Even if the paint flaking is cosmetic, it’s not normal on an engine that has supposedly just left the production line,

and there is no reason why the engine should have been removed from a brand new bike that has supposedly just left the production line either

not to mention missing radiator bolts after a supposed PDI and a delivery rescheduled deliberately in the dark

something very fishy has gone on somewhere along the line

I know its a pain having all this hassle but the facts are on your side.

I'd do the same as you and not let this sort of behaviour go without consequences, for them, despite being able to afford the £400. The way they have dealt with you tells you everything you need to know about this dealership re its standards and how it treats its customers when something is below par.
