Brand New Product... Battery/Alternator Monitor.

New version available suits KTM .Same price £18 posted.

Weve made a new model for the KTM range, they seem to have a high top end voltage, and this seems to be normal, running up to 14.6 to 14.8 volts on charge, which would put the normal unit into overcharge mode.
So the Overcharge mode is now set to 15 volts when it goes into flashing green mode.
The normal charge mode has been revised to be 12.8 volts up to 15 volts where the green led stays green on all the time.
Over this voltage it will flash green.
Im just waiting for confirmation this works ok on the bike from Jim.
stats:
under 10 volts very fast red flash
under 11 volts, above 10 volts med red flash
under 12 volts, above 11 volts slow red flash
above 12 volts below 12.8 solid amber
above 12.8 volts below 15 volts solid green
above 15 volts flashing green.

How is the development of the cigarette lighter version coming along?

new version also suits airheads

It would appear airheads with an uprated reg peak at around 14.6 volts.
the new unit is ideal for this bike.Paul

You should have yours on the doormat today.Let me know what you think?
Thanks very Much

Very prompt service thanks Paul. Picked it up from the sorting office on Saturday as nobody in to sign for it. As I already have a green LED cable tied to a sticky pad under the dash (from the extra lights BTBR fitted for me) I am hoping to replace it with an LED with a bezel to match the one you sent. Then I will probably drill two holes in the dash and have them both mounted. I've had a quick look on the Maplin website this morning (supposed to be working haha) to find one to match but no luck as yet. Thanks again :beerjug:

Hi Nomad - Sorry for the late reply, I received the monitor a couple of days later, and fitted it at the week-end. All very easy to fit and wire up. Does exactly as described - interesting to see how the battery voltage is affected by the servo at tickover, and nice to see the light go green as soon as the revs rise or the brakes are released. Good little product. Thanks.

moniter install

Just thought id post a few photos of install on 1200gsa:

Nice and easy to do and good advice on phone from Paul........tapped into front aux socket and works a treat powering on and off with socket......ive fitted a powerport into rear pannier in order to charge netbook etc and plugged that in , heated grips full on, two sets of aux lights and ipod charging and still the moniter showed that (green light steady) all was well!! Great bit of kit for the price and gives a welcome bit of piece of mind......Cheers Chris :thumb

Well Done Chris

It looks like a very nice install.
Now i think you have to agree, after the effort you made,it looks far better fully fitted, rather than being in a din plug.
I have done a couple of installs whereby i removed the led from the bezel and discarded it(very easy to do) and installed the 5mm LED into the dashpack directly without the bezel, with some time and effort you can achieve a virtual factory look, which looks the beezeneeze.
Because the circuit board is so small and on a 75mm flylead, it will squeeze into most dashpacks without any fuss.

This is now on my wish list for my birthday. :D
wish i'd got one a month ago! :(
£18 versus nigh on £200 for the (second hand) alternator stator and new reg/rectifier i just had to get for my Guzzi. :blast
