Brembos now fitted to new models ?

You two should bugger off with your wooden spoons. Just trying to stir the shite. You can slag the worlds best selling adveture bike all you like, people still buy them so what does that say about you :nenau:blast:D

Se my earlier post where i accept how good the bike actually is

You just have to accept that it isnt by any means the best made as it clearly isnt and as said my biggest issue is twofold
one that BMW are ruining a great bike through penny pinching
And blindly following and continuing to buy in the numbers we know about these buyers are encouraging this cheapening and spoiling the chances of it being improved and me buying one again

Apparently the only bike which did last year's Globebusters Ace to Ace ride with no problems at all was a brand new 1250GS. All the other BMWs had a failure. Lots of spokes loose, shocks bursting, shaft gaitors popping out, etc.

Why get so defensive? We’re not making this stuff up. ;)

Your constant referral to KTM is making you look quite bitter. This thread has nothing to do with any other bike manufacturers.

I think it says more about the people that buy them !
Not that many people ‘buy’ them any more as most seem to use the PCP method and never plan to keep them longer than 3 years when conveniently they can hand them back and upgrade just as the warranty expires......quite possibly one of the reasons that BMW can get away with charging so much for an inferior product.
Get rid of PCPs and sales of the mighty steed will plummet.

I think all of that is relevant to any marque.

You seem to forget that ‘those two’ have owned several GS’s between them.
Nor have they brought KTM into the discussion, it’s you and only that seems to see this as a WBM v KTM thing.......some would call that being overly defensive.......

Me, I’m currently on my second GS but am no slave to the brand and can’t fault anything Rick or Rich have said. In fact I agree wholeheartedly with them :thumb2

Andres

PS ‘KTM not even on the list’? For some that is that is just the reason to own one...... :)

Yeah read that Nutty but there is nothing about Shiftcam Failure?!?!? So I'll ask again where have you read the comments about the suggested shiftcam failure or are you resorting to your favourite pastime of wooden spoon remarks and stirring the pot :proff

Shiftcam failures is a new one on me also and I read most stuff here and elsewhere. I’ve heard of the odd camshaft hardening issue but that’s not the same thing.

I think that ALL makers are in the penny pinching game. Its just that some of them have yet to have the chickens come home to roost. Quality definately isnt what it should be for a premium bike. However if looked after, and taken care of, like you should do with any expensive item, it will last for years. They have obviously realised that its a new engine design and have extended the warranty to three years, which to my way of thinking is a sign that they will and indeed do look after their customers. I know you will say it shouldnt happen in the first place, and your right. Bet KTM wouldnt step up to the plate if they had engine problems. Nutty, take note i mentioned them again. and no im not getting defensive, just wielding the wooden spoon like you do :P:blast:D

Dare i mention that Ducati are confident enough to put 4 year unlimited miles warranty on Multistrada and as i have said previously the build quality on my Pikes peak is fantastic and with top end components, Brembo M50 calipers, Ohlins top of the line TTX suspension front and rear and all for about the same as a top specced GS

That's all well and good, and how most businesses are run, but when they are increasing the price of the bikes, and reducing the quality of the components, do you think that's acceptable? I certainly don't.

I haven't noted a reduction in the quality of the components - to be fair, my first BMW was a 2007 RT, maybe they started before then. Either way I'm happy with my 1250.

Well im glad that they are getting their act together after many a long year when their bike were little better than scrap, given the wiring and other problems they had. So bully for them, nice to see. But in the greater scheme of things im sure the BMW mothership will sort out the problems. Ive bought my last bike so it doesnt really matter to me because i will look after it and if it goes wrong within the warranty period then they will fix it. What gets me, all the negative(for the most part) comments are coming from people who dont even own a 1250, so AFAIC its just stirring the shite and little amuse's children.

That's what I found. Perhaps some people like to throw mud around and see where it sticks? Perhaps they are lacking something somewhere ;)

So if anybody out there knows of any shiftcam failures then post them on the forum? I'd like to be aware before I spend my hard earned dosh!!!

You must remember, Nutty is an "expert" on the quality of BMW components. Fuck knows how, since hes never owned a 1250. But hey ho im spliting hairs.

I think you may be a tad naive to think that a price increase reflects anything other than better margins for the seller

Edit: I see that you run a business. Do you only increase your prices to mirror what you have suffered, or do you take the opportunity to sneak a few more % points through?
