On checking my new A40s fitted by Alan J BMW they are 36front and 42 rear. the Manual for the bike is 32f and 36r so why such a big difference? and what do you run them at?

I have tried the Bridgestone web site and can only find tyre recommendations but no pressures

How does the bike feel ? OK ? Probably spot on then. The manual for the bike is OK on the day it's printed. Tyres & their technologies change.

thanks

Thanks guys, not ridden it enough to know how it feels yet but tend to prefer more air in than recommended.

All good

Did 150 miles yesterday with the BMW club through the Yorkshire Dales and could not fault the tyres. Even in the rain and slush on the tops they gripped perfectly and gave a lot of confidence.

Thanks for all replies

Nick

36/42 is the fully laden recommended pressures (2.5/2.9bar), solo riding recommended is (2.2/2.5bar), i'm a bit anal about these things:rob

Been running 36/42 for 6-7k

No issues, tonnes of grip wet or dry

Will the difference in psi make a real difference?

Not in my opinion but they're your tires not mine and I'm fat so naturally fully laden

Final point

Had Tournance Next before these, these are better

I'm 36/42. Can't fault these tyres.
Bought a second pair at a price I couldn't refuse last week.... Stashed them in the garage waiting for my first pair to start to square off.
They def are lasting longer than Metzelers

Don't know about pressures with these tyres but will probably run them at 34/36. Fitted the front today but pretty much given up on the rear. These tyres are the stiffest I have ever come across. With a pr4 etc you can squeeze r
The tyres edge to edge with one hand. These basically don't move. Very stiff indeed which means they are an absolute pain to fit. I'll run them then try something else. With the exp or pr4 etc they pretty much fall on the rim, these don't.

I'm sure they will be fine to remove but next time I'm fitting something more flexible for 50/50 road/ off-road. Any ideas?

Running these too but I dropped from 36 f 42 r to 32 f and 36 r and found the ride greatly improved.

I have a40s on my GSA l/c and run 36/42. I have a slow puncture in the back and can tell you that the bike likes its back tyre to be fairly pumped up. Incidentally I don't like the tyers but so many people do I'm going for another pair just in case mine were a bad set. JJH

Wow. 42 in the rear.

I know from many track days, if ya want corner grip and heat, you have to drop it way down. Now I know the road is nothing like a trackday, but I like to keep mine at 31 rear 30 front and it stays well mannered on the very outer edge of the tire.

Yeah i know, a hang up from a bad set of tourances. I feel much much happier at the lower pressures.
