I've just found the following disclaimer on the Boxer Design website relating to Brisk plugs. The same plugs that Motorworks claim are well suited to modified engines:

"BRISK PREMIUM sparg plug can be only used without an adaptation, if the motor performance is not improved with other things like chip–tuning or mechanical motortuning. In such a case, it´s important to contact us, because there is an individuell procedure to avoid a damage at the engine. We refuse any responsibility to wrong data of your motorcycle over wrong indication to your motorcycle."

So Motorworks recommend them for chipped engines and Boxer Design say they're not suitable. Hmmm. I'm using them - anyone know what "damage to the engine" I'm in danger of suffering? What "adaptation" do I need to avoid this damage?

It's only a frigging fancy spark plug what can it do wrong?

That's what I would have thought. Fancy though it may be I have to say I couldn't tell any difference between Brisk, NGK or Bosch in the way the bike runs.

I'll pretend I never read that disclaimer - ignorance really is bliss :mmmm

Quite a bit,actually....if the resistance is markedly different than stock fitment plugs.....

Errrrr.....?

I don't understand how a plug that is suitable for a standard engine isn't suitable for a very lightly modified one when all those modifications do is change the ignition timing and mixture slightly and up the rev limit a bit. Is it a heat rating thing? I can't imagine the combustion temperature on a chipped bike is that different from a standard one.

But the resistance? How can that change or be affected when the bike's chipped?

Well..Laser used to issue a warning about the likelyhood of melting plastic panniers when the chip was fitted....

I`m not saying that plug resistance 'will change or be affected when the bike`s chipped'....I`m just saying that a different resistance on the HT side of the ignition circuit could well do a bit of damage,if the Brisk plugs are of a markedly higher/lower resistance than stock, especially if there`s been changes made along the lines of chipping...hence the warning on the pack.

Possibly intresting reading for some?

The Brisk plugs in my RT welded themselves to the plugcaps in 7,000 miles worth of riding. Posted a pic and long winded account of it somewhere. And the bike was a chipped 1100 with GS inlets and K+N.
