I have just spent an hour trying to get a reasonable price for a Portsmouth to Spain crossing in May. Last time we did this trip was May 2010, when we paid about £280 for a return trip for a bike and two people. Cheapest I can find for this year is £460 - a 60%+ increase. No discounts available and no indication that the price will drop a bit nearer the time of travel. Looks like we might be touring the UK this year:(

Or to save 10p per minute call charge go to

brittanyferries.com/early12

This redirects to what looks like the normal site but gives you the discount when you get to the price part of the booking.

Valid until 6th Feb.

Go Dover/Calais and use the money you save by not using Brittany Ferries to ride your bike across France to Spain on the A roads :thumb2

They must be doing something right I tried to book a ferry for 4 of us and bikes 1st week in June 2012 back in November and it was full!!

Portsmouth to Caen instead.

Yeah , thats what I did last sept , to be honest worked out about the same in ££s , but loads more fun riding the bike , than sad on a ferry :bounce1

Agreed, the LD Lines service is getting a better idea by the day.
Brittany Ferries are getting excessively expensive.

T.

Well I want to go to Spain this year and just priced LD up.
£375 which is cheaper than Brittany however ..

Ride to Portsmouth not Plymouth.
Take a ferry.
Ride from La Harve to St Nazaire.
Take a ferry.

... and repeat in reverse.

4 ferries, 4 cabins to find and unpack in, road miles in between and twice as long getting down there and back.

I'll stick to Brittany I think, but yes they are getting bloody expensive.

If you're taking your TTR, find 3 mates with similar bikes and take a van.

Oh I'll save someone else the time ...

3 mates!! :D

It does seem like a bit of buggering about though for the sake of £100 and it still takes twice as long to get down and back.

P&O are the same - not quite as bad though Hull to Zeebrugge and back in June

£277 on the bike, about £240 last year
