Wanted Brittany Ferry Santander

I managed to book Portsmouth-Santander return this May for £711 but that was booking and paying in September 2024.
I think booking way in advance is the surest way to get some discount

booked in July 2024 from Plymouth - £470 return with cabin for travel in May/June. Early Bird ticket so paid 100% up front but used a credit card to get S75 protection

This may sound crazy, but has honestly worked for a few of us:

Ring them (you can’t do this online) and add a booking for one night in a hotel. This converts it to a holiday and they give (or were giving) discounts on “package holidays”.

We have a trip booked for June and had booked our hotels separate to the ferry. I added on one night to the ferry booking and the total cost was less than the original cost of just the ferry, by £200. Even better, the room I added on was half board. It’s the same hotel and date that we’d originally booked (room only) directly with the hotel. That means that I saved the £200 plus the original hotel cost plus what we’d have spent on evening meals and breakfast. There’s 4 of us going, so that makes a combined saving of over £1000.

I’m not sure if they’re still doing it this way, but for 5 minutes on the phone it’s worth checking.

this practice has been very well trailed on this forum for many years with some recent reports if I recall correctly

So has the procedure for getting discount codes, and then the fact that they stopped doing friends and family, but people seem to miss them and still ask. It doesn’t harm to suggest it to people looking to save costs who may not be aware of it.

I thought I was confirming recent reports of success!

Hi,
We’ve just booked for Picos de Europa in September.
If you book a “Holiday” with them, you get 30% off the cost of the ferry!
A “Holiday” could be a one (1) night stay in a hotel, booked through them ( we booked to stay in Santander, the night before sailing home) saved us over £600 even with the cost of the hotel booking.
It could well be worth looking into.
Good luck, I hope you get sorted.
👍😁

Yep, that trick still works.
I'd already booked for 2 of us to go in June, last year, and just got booked in time to get 10% Club Voyage discount using a friend's code. Thought that was that but rang them up and they said if I booked one of their recommended hotels, even for 1 night, the crossing would have another 20% off, giving 30% in total. Booked a nice 4* near Logrono for the first night as we're gonna decide which direction to go depending on the weather. So, hotel with a pool and breakfast included, the final cost was £170 less than my initial booking just for the boat!
They are very friendly on the phone - you can't do the changes online.

But do you need to be a Club Voyage member to get the discount or is it open to all?

I missed it originally, I booked back in September and I'm going in June. They are happy to do it retrospectively and have reduced my outstanding balance by £170 (£85 each as there's just 2 of is) and booked me in a £100 a night hotel for free.

Can you do this retrospectively? I’ve got a ferry booked for September but no hotels as we didn’t have the whole plan by then.

Well that is a result

Booked a holiday as opposed to the ferry and hotel seperately. Staying in a better hotel than the one recommended by the rally and paying circa £400 less for the trip.

Thanks for the advice guys
