BT do have the advantage of being both monkey and organ-grinder in the provision of telephony and broadband, and so can be winged at succesfully.

Given your area of expertise, I suspect you might be able to persuade TwatTwat to provide some recompense for your time also, one can live in hope anyway.

Oh no. No no no no. NOT BT. Ever again. Never. Spent a year trying to get them to deliver their service and did the whole 9 yards - staying in for their engineers not to turn up, "your account will be refunded" - never happened, and so on.

In the end they had to pay me to go away, but they still wouldn't actually do anything to fix a fault.

It's a fair point though - eveyone on the domestic side of this indrustry is complete crap. At least twattwat (I like that and am going to adopt it - :thumb ) are cheaper all in than BT is for just a piss-poor phone line...

Just out of curiosity, and because you say that 'no BB unless phone dialling out'.

Have you removed any phones from any other phone points, as well as plugging the router into the 'master BT socket' uner the lower half of the faceplate ?

Also, check that the main BT wires are connected to the same numbered 'pins' as on this example.....

Yup - had everything off from the master and just plugged in the 'pooter - same deal. Add on one phone extension and dial out - up comes ADSL signal.

I'm convinced that, as said above, they have buggered up some switch at the exchange somewhere...

PlusNet

I can't help you're current situation, but i reckon only the vendor can do that!!

But when you do finally change supplier, you could do a lot worse than Plusnet i've been using them for a couple of years now, never had an issue, they are very open regarding their service provision and easy to get hold of if you need to.

Good luck with your issues..... keep us all posted.

I had problems with TT and finally went in to a local Carphone Warehouse branch. Told them my tale of woe, they called the helpline (put on hold etc....) and finally got through to someone, told them my story, had a strong word in his ear about customer service then passed the phone to me to have a word with them and finally, that same afternoon, a SENIOR technician (who could speak english and seemed to know his stuff!!!) telephoned me at home. Again I went through my woes, he did a "woosh" test and said there was a problem at the exchange and he would pass it on to BT to sort out. It still took a further week but it was finally sorted. The problem with outsourcing broadband seems to be that everyone relies on BT to keep the system running and I suppose you can't blame them for not wanting to help another provider, still doesn't help us though!
