wot he said.....
....almost exactly - solved my problems. Used the same URL address for the router - BUT - had to adjust a network connection on my PC first. Netgear have a helpline (obviously not in blighty
) that did help on the second occasion.
And I'm a technological halfwit.
Good luck.
May as well chuck my twopence in.
192.168.0.1 sounds right to me
As previously suggested disconnect the wireless adapter and also disable it in network connections. While your in there make sure the LAN adapter is enabled. Now right click again and go to LAN properties and check the two little boxes that say "show icon" and "notify me" (this will show your lan conneciton on the taskbar)
Now while still in properties click on internet connection box and go properties again and make sure the boxes are checked for obtain automatically on both IP address and DNS servers .............. phew
onward
Now go to the properties of internet explorer (right click and properties) choose connections and make sure the box is ticked "never dial a connection" at the bottom go to LAN settings and just check the box that says "automatically detect settings" all other boxes should be clear. Apply all changes and exit.
Now open internet explorer.
type in 192.168.0.1
you should get a log in page
user is admin
password is password
that gets you into the box hopefully from where you can enter the settings, user name etc that mr murdoch has given you
