For anything to get sucked into an air box past an air filter, the engine would need to be pulling a massive vacuum against a blocked air filter. Chances are the engine would stall before that could happen. Somebody is talking complete bollocks, and it's not me for once!
I'd wager the foreign body didn't get sucked into the air box, it was left in there by somebody.
