Hi everyone,

I took my wheels off yesterday to get new tyres fitted, when I took the rear off the left hand pad fell out and was left hanging on the pin at the back of the caliper

When I returned from National Tyres with my new Tourance's fitted I stripped the rear caliper to get the pad back in.
Then the anti-rattle spring fell out in two bits :doh
I re-fitted the pad in the caliper and put it all back together - with out a new anti rattle spring (as I havn't got one!)

I have got the BMW pads fitted.

My question is,

will it be ok without the spring? or should i get a new one?

Cheers everyone

It'll be fine. I took mine out months ago as a way of helping to prevent "sticky pads/calipers" which some bikes seem to suffer from.
There's been no adverse effect to braking or increased noise on my bike (1100GS).

Andy.

I haven't had a anti-rattle spring fitted [front+rear] since I stared fitting EBC HH pads when the OE set were replaced some 35K miles ago and I've noticed no ill effects.

However, there is now a noticable rattle [shocker!] from the front at times.

Russ.

Thanks for the reply's,

MacDram and Boxer, I will go without then.

I can go and try my Tourances out for the fisrt time now :)

Boxer,

It's a feature! The rattle from my HH pads is embarrasing at times.

Andy - You take your time on that fast motorcycle.
