Broken rear mudguard/fender

I have just had new tyres fitted to my '25 bike (Michelin Anakee 2s, since you didn't ask).

I was backing slowly down a gentle gradient when the rear mudguard 'popped', one of the three arms snapped, and the screws went I don't know where. I don't have any obvious additions that got in the way (tool kit etc).

I have read that others have had this problem - it seems mad to me that BMW engineered in such a design flaw (I am assuming that it is design).
 
That's logical. It may be that the mechanic forgot to replace the two lower screws both missing, the thread looks ok.
 
So “BMW’s design flaw” looks more like a tyre monkey’s error🙄

Those screws have thread lock on them so even if you don’t renew it they’re highly unlikely to shake free

I’d be having a word with the tire place about a new scraper
