I have had a problem with my screen on a 08 GS1200 Adverture flexing backwards and forwards.
On examination I have found that the U shaped frame that secures the lower part of the screen and bolts to the triangular brackets that hold the screen adjusters and indicators has sheered on both sides between the two bolts that secure it to the triangular bracket.:blast

Has anyone else come across this problem?
Do we think it could be repaired by welding?
Or, am I going to have to shell out for a new frame piece?

Comments welcome

I had one side shear off on my '08 GSA. Bought a second hand replacement from Motorworks, can't remember how much but it wasn't that expensive. I think it was caused by a failed front shock - I soon changed to Wilburs and have never had the same issue again.

If cosmetics arn't an issue , can you find someone who can weld it? Or can you sleeve internally or externally and put a couple of bolts through it?

Correct! £208 as it comes with the triangular brackets attached.
Not decided yet whether to get it welded or replaced.

I think it has been caused by the extra weight and leverage
of the Garmin and Touratech bracket.

Fit a Givi AF-330 screen with a Ram mount block above the clocks to reduce wobble.
It's 200% better then the OEM screen.

Fit an MRA adjustable screen and you don't need the support, New MRA screen is £105 so it works out cheaper and you get a better screen as a result :D

They're £85 second hand from Motorworks. Mine has a touring screen from Xtreme fitted together with a Garmin 660 and lockable mount on the same support bar and is taking the weight fine.
