YA had me for a minute there!

I thought the wobbley lookin thing was yer magnetic pick up tool!

But it's not it's yer clutch pushrod!

Looks like ya had some slippage on the clutch too judging by the bluing?

Bloody clutch pushrods..:blast
The one in my R90s was made by my B in Law in 1983 out of a piece of tool steel..
everytime I grease splines I check and it's still perfect....
Should have got him to make a dozen or so :mmmm

The clutch pressure plate and diaphragm are both worn. I tried to adjust the pushrod to get a little more clearance this obviously put too much stress on the pushrod.

The old girls done over 200,000 miles so I can't complain. That's the third clutch to bite the dust.

I was looking at it the other day trying to figure out what's original on the bike. The only parts left are the main frame, engine bottom end, carbs, airbox, tank, swinging arm (not the drive shaft), headlight and the front mudguard.

1 hour. i'm impressed :)

just looking at the pics, is it possible to get the box out without removing the swing arm, or shifting the engine forward?

|Cookie yes it is possible to judge roll the wheel swingarm back a couple of inches and get it out

I think with the twinshock you have enough clearance to get the clutch pushrod out which usually saves it bending or breaking!

See the hole arrowed thats the pivot hole, you shouldn't be able to see it cos the swingarm is usually in the way

The swinging arm has to be pulled back to get the clearance. If you look at my photo you can see the shock top bolts have been removed to allow the wheel to be rolled backwards. The clutch release bearing needs to be removed and the pushrod pulled back.

As a bet one day a few years ago, i removed a gearbox in 17 minutes in front of an audience.

Only need undo the swingarm pins, undo the driveshaft bolts and chock the rear wheel back with a wedge inbetween the tyre and mudguard.
battery and sidepanels stay in place, gearbox comes out from the L\H side. :thumb

It's just had a coating of ACF50 so looks far better than it is ;)

A friend of mine bought it with 80k on the clock and then put another 120k on it using it as his only transport. I've put another 14k on top of that.

This is how it looked when I got it - I may spray it the same colour some time
