DutchBryn, if you combine your GSM ipad with a 'three' SIM card, 'three' provides its 'feel at home' package where you can use your data across 17 different countries without incurring any roaming charges. That is a godsend especially when travelling in Europe (and also works in the USA). For the UK, you always have the option of 'tethering' the iPad to any phone - iPhone/Android/Windows - all of them work well.
