I've decided to take the plunge and buy a GS WC for delivery on 6 March, so my my RT is going in part-ex. I did consider a RT WC, but love the GS styling.

Keep an eye on the For Sale section as I'll we selling my large BMW top box, small BMW top box, Cal Sci medium height screen (about 2" higher than standard, but much better protection for average height riders), BMW tank bag and Kathy's pannier liners :thumby:

Congrats.:thumb Glad you went for the fun bike again!:D What spec/ colour did you go for?

A basic one in white with ESA, heated grips, low seat and panniers. I couldn't justify buying a TE as the LED headlight bumps the price up and I never (well once in 11k miles on the RT and the same on my previous GS) ride in the dark anyway as I use my car for commuting. Just need to buy a Givi Trekker top box & screen, SW Motech tankbag, GPS crossbar and mounting bracket & cylinder head protection now.

Great choice :D:D

That's nearly an exact description of my bike but without the low seat (waiting for my Touratech high seat to arrive!) and MRA X-creen instead of Givi :thumb

Hmmm. Good luck, I hope you've made the right choice.

I changed my RT for a GSA in September, I'm pleased I've scratched the itch having always fancied one but there's no 2 ways about it, for me the RT is far & away the better bike (unless you're going to do a lot of off-roading of course).

A bit like you I really like the look of the 'Adventure' bike & had to have one at one point but I'm already missing my RT.
:(

I think my RT is a much better bike than the old GS ( especially the GSA), but I loved the speed, stiff ESA suspension and flickability of the new GS. I was tempted by a RT WC, but love the styling of the GS

Yip, much like me. I was tempted by the looks, had to have one at one point.

Good luck, I hope you really enjoy it.

I am very close to going for the WC GS if the p/x on my RT is good enuff.
I think i will go basic and heated grips, leave the ESA.
Tempted with the wire wheels, but a bitch to clean.
Hope you enjoy yours,

Congrats, looking forward to some pic's. Well since no one has said yet, dibs on your tankbag if its a genuine one with the RT1200 on it. :beerjug:

Yes, it's a genuine BMW one. There's a fine scratch on the plastic map pocket, but other than that it's in good condition.

hi sven probably not the place to say.....

::.Edit.:: Your are right it isn't the place to say, if you have something for sale, use the For Sale & Wanted sections.

I'm interested in the pannier liners too, depending on price. Just got rid of my GS and got a 90th anniversary RT so looking for bits.

You'll love the bike.

Are you sure you need the low seat, Steve? I've had the low seat on all four previous bikes but I found that the standard seat on the new bike is fine for me.

I have gone the other road i.e. GS to RT again.

Regardless of my opinion enjoy your new toy.

Mike, if I rode solo then the standard seat would be fine, but I always have Trudi on the back and it's just a little bit too tall with the extra weight, especially with a fortnights luggage aboard.

Allan Jefferies are quite accommodating and I'm sure they'd let me swap it for a standard height seat if I have any issues with it e.g. Trudi complaining about the wind last because I'm too low.

i see how it works now it is ok for some people to say thay are selling there top box and bmw stuff on this thread it must b a new b thing was only trying to help i did not say a price just to look on gum tree but ha ho that is life

Which one is best .... :nenau :D

I work on an RT and have a GS. And I seem to put a different head on with each bike. Engineering is a clever clever thing, and how they build a bike to have character and soul beats me. Whilst I don't physically ride them any differently, I definitely take on a different personality with each bike.
For me, the RT is a true sort of roadcraft bike if yer like. It is sublime at covering distance in that page one paragraph one ... 'quiet efficiency is the hallmark of the expert .....'. Sit still, look like yer asleep, and hoon like a gentleman. Yep, you can still ride it like yer stole it, you can still scrape yer pegs and cover distance at a real pace, but for me, it takes on this sort of 'Raffles thief' personality. Very smooth but in a controlled, calm way.

The GS though .... it makes me lairyer ! This time I want to loft the odd wheelie off a rise in the road, have a bit of a super moto push the bike under me style on the odd ocasion, brake hard into a corner (much harder than I would on the RT :nenau) and not feel guilty about loosing some of that corporate smooth style. I don't become rough on the edges on the GS as such, it's more a case of shedding that 'hands at ten to two' style and becoming a bit of a loon :D

I wouldn't say one is better than the other, just very different, and your natural character and persona is possibly going to suit one bike more than the other ?

I'm not ready for the RT yet :D, but I suspect that the LC RT will be a bloody brilliant gentlemans hooner. :thumb2
