Daft Eddys, Sketrick Island, Co Down, if you like desserts and pie, plus the view is fantasic, we past it on the fish dash, the place on the island.

The Rock Cafe, Slievenaman Road, Bryansford, Co Down, nice wee spot up in the Mournes, its nothing fancy but it's cheap, has homemade apple pie and a log fire going in the colder months.

Coffee Dock, Upper Square, Castlewellan, Co Down, great place for a fry, not greasy and a decent price, always plenty of bikes outside it on a Sunday morning.

The Cuan Fish & Chip Shop, Strangford, Co Down... worth it for the scampi

Lynhams of laragh and the Wicklow heather. Great grub and the spin across the Sally gap on way home is terrific. Glenmalure inn is also great place in the sun. Lynams do hostel accommodation now too, 20 euro for bed and dinner is great value!

Banagher.

Heidis,
Courtyard Coffee shop
Crank road
(no - really, it IS called Crank Road!).

Heidi is sound, prices reasonable, portions are good and Bikers welcomed.
middle of the town, just off the main street - car park opposite.

MAG and IRTA have often held meetings there coz it's central, and theres a room for hire nearby - but ...really it's coz of Heidis food :D

the first pic! could be an exceptional thread with more.

Breakfast in Kildare ?

Could anyone recommend a greasy spoon that opens early in or near Kildare town ? Thanks

Kildare town ? There's not a lot, especially early. But here goes :
Kildare Village Outlet - not exactly greasy spoon but there's a Starbucks and Dunne & Cresenzi.
Just past the Outlet you'll find Tesco & there's a Costa round the back.
Or continue as far as the square, turn left onto Bride St & just after the left bend theres a coffee shop.

After that its either Mayfield Services (Jct 14, the one before the Outlet if heading north) or Newbridge where there's a good choice of cafes.

I'll head to Newbridge then.

Heading to the Wicklow Mountains last week I stopped here for breakfast, was open at 8.00am on Saturday, good breakfast and reasonably priced so would recommend it.

Chat n Chew, Moorefield Road, Newbridge Co Kildare. (Opposite the Credit Union)

Just a heads up for anyone planning a visit here -

IT DOESN'T OPEN ON A SUNDAY :blast:blast

But Eddie Rockets in Carlow does and its a great spin from newbridge via Kilcullen and Athy but watch out for the 'safety' camera vans... they are always out on these roads in particular.

O'Sullivan, Ardcrony, Co. Tipperary

Just north of Nenagh we happened on this place - a shop with everything. Had a great sandwich and coffee and could have had the main course - chicken, ham or bacon and cabbage for 5.99 euros! Well worth a visit and open on Sundays.

Best brekkie in Wicklow without doubt is the Heather in Laragh. Only gripe, its got a gavel car park.

Not greasy, plenty of refill tea / coffee at no extra cost. Staff are bang on.

Called into a lovely place in slane today called Georges patisserie bril coffe & cakes and more importantly lovely people.

Best coffee I've had any where.
Lou Lou's. It's a mobile type that is parked in car park at the start of the old narrow gauge railway from Carrigaline to Crosshaven in Cork
