Cafes, coffee stops and favourite greasy spoons in Wales

Folks planning on riding to the Ponderosa atop the horseshoe Pass need to be aware that it closed "for refurbishment" before Christmas. There is no sign of it re-opening and they have deleted their Facebook page.
Owners have posted that they have no plans to re-open.

Aberavon beach. At the end of the west end of the beach is the Memo Beach Cafe. Great welcome there, plenty of seats and tables outside and it is a couple of yards from the sandy beach. Park on the prom by the wall of cafe. Coffee and ice cream, no food atm.

Bikers always welcome here even if you’ve just come off the Roman road.

Afternoon chaps

Looking at meeting up with an old pal and after a recommendation for a cafe in Newtown, with bike friendly parking.

or a couple of places adjacent to the Yamaha dealer (no longer has Suzuki as shown in image) https://maps.app.goo.gl/AJPEv77PWSaPY5Ga8

the cafe in the community centre by the river is okay https://maps.app.goo.gl/gtVn4mUnXeae2pCy9 plus another two the other end of the car park by the bus station

Cheers Wessie. I think Hafan Yr Afon pips Greg’s and McDonalds 👍. It’ll be a decent run out on my Speed Twin on Wednesday.

The cafe at the National White Water Centre is a good place to eat and watch the terrified tourists coming down the river.

Decent brew & food

The raft person in charge on the left managed to keep the inflatable in that posittion for about a minute soaking everyone but himself

I see the Llanwenarth Hotel (outside Abergavenny on the A40, not far from the Subaru Dealership) has rebranded itself "The Roadhouse", catering for bikes especially. By all accounts, the food is good at a reasonable price.

My favourite lunch stop since moving to Mid Wales is in Aberdyfi. Walkers Fish & Chips. The small fish with a cone of chips is a decent lunch for £7.40
https://maps.app.goo.gl/8rZBWVufDy6xXK4i9 - a couple of picnic tables outdoors or wander across the road to the promenade benches.
Perfect place to have a spot of lunch if riding around the Mach loop. The fast jets don't fly over Aberdovey often but you will sometimes see or hear an A400 looping around the estuary.

Dyfi Diner, just the Machynlleth side of the Cemmaes Road roundabout on the A470. You might be lucky and see some military aircraft fly along the River Dyfi.
Note they are only open for breakfast and lunch as their main trade is working drivers. 7 days a week, 0730 to 2pm.
We only had drinks a couple of weeks ago as we arrived just as they were closing. I rode past today at 130pm and the layby was full of vans and trucks which is always a good sign. Big brekkie with a mug of hot liquid is under a tenner.

Great breakfast at the Halfway Inn in Pisgah just a few miles east of Aberystwyth. Just check on opening days and times before you visit. I believe it’s Wed to Sun 10am till late from now to late summer.

These are the people that got turfed out of Devil’s Bridge Two Hoots cafe after decades running it.

Best Welsh breakfast we’ve found so far 👍

Does anyone know if there's any sign of the Ponderosa on the Horseshoe Pass opening up again?
